Supplementary Methods – Methods describing selection of house keeping genes and immunohistochemical staining procedure. Supplementary Tables – Tables containing clinical demographics for subjects, average counts, fold change, and p-value for all genes studied, and all differentially co-expressed genes. Supplementary Figures and Legends – Figures showing sample immunohistochemical staining for proteins of significantly altered genes, co-expression plots. (DOCX 35xa0kb)

Doctors do not accurately diagnose asthma Question:D. Postma I do not agree with Dr Rosenwasser that doctors diagnose asthma accurately. They only diagnose it because they think it is asthma. It is well known they are more likely to diagnose a female and less likely to diagnose a smoker. Furthermore, many people who have symptoms do not recognise it to be abnormal and do not go to their physician, as we have learned from our genetic study. We need objective measures. What I learned from your lecture is that variability of PFF and hyperresponsiveness is high. We know that hyperresponsiveness is present in asthmatics, yet about 65% lose their hyperresponsiveness some 30 years later. One single entity will not define asthma (of course not, since it is a heterogeneous disease) and you will have to follow up genetic populations since asthma may become apparent only later in life.
