Tetrahedron Letters | 1981

Novel electron transfer mechanism in lithium alanate reduction of benzylic halides

P.R. Singh; J.M. Khurana; Alok Nigam

Abstract Occurrence of a new electron transfer mechanism in the LiAlH 4 reduction of 9-chloromethylanthrancene, diphenylchloromethane and 9-bromofluorene is demonstrated. Alanate anion serves as a source of electrons and hydrogen atoms.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1980

Reduction of Z-2-chlorostilbene with lithium aluminum hydride: evidence for an electron transfer radical mechanism☆

P.R. Singh; Alok Nigam; J.M. Khurana

Abstract Z -2-Chlorostilbene undergoes uncatalyzed LiAlH 4 reduction giving phenanthrene and Z -stilbene. An electron transfer radical mechanism is proposed. LiAlH 4 induced isomerization of Z -stilbene produces E -stilbene.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1982

Radical nucleophilic substitution mechanism in the reactions of arenediazonium cations with nitrite ion

P.R. Singh; Ramesh Kumar; R.K. Khanna

Abstract Reactions of arenediazonium cations with nitrite ion generally believed to involve nucleophilic displacement have been found to occur via single electron transfer where free radicals intervene.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1983

Electron transfer mechanism in lithium aluminium hydride reduction of organomercuric halides

P.R. Singh; R.K. Khanna

Abstract A new electron transfer free radical mechanism has been proposed for the reduction of a few organomercuric halides with LiAlH4. Symmetrization of arylmercuric halides in these reactions has been observed for the first time.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1982

Electron transfer free radical mechanism in the reactions of arenediazonium cations with grignard reagents

P.R. Singh; R.K. Khanna; B. Jayaraman

Abstract The major pathway in the reactions of arenediazonium cations with certain Grignard reagents is found to involve an electron transfer from the latter to the π-system of the former reactant and radicals are the immediate precursors of the final products.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1982

Simultaneous occurrence of electron transfer initiated radical cage collapse and chain mechanisms in the reactions of diaryliodonium cations with 2-nitropropanate anion

P.R. Singh; R.K. Khanna

Abstract Simultaneous occurrence of free radical cage and chain mechanisms initiated by single electron transfer in the reactions of diaryliodonium cations with 2-nitropropanate anion has been established.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1991

Mechanisms in the reaction of arenediazonium cations with 2-nitropropanide anion

Rajive K. Khanna; Yong M. Jiang; P.R. Singh

Abstract Lithium 2-nitropropan-2-ide reacts, in MeOH solvent, with benzenediazonium and p-methoxybenzenediazonium cations to give diazo-coupled products, but with p-nitrobenzenediazonium cation by competing electron transfer and diazo-coupling reactions.

Journal of Ornamental Horticulture | 2000

Studies on Post Harvest Management of Gladiolus

Kushal Singh; P.R. Singh; J.S. Arora; R.P.S. Mann

Tetrahedron Letters | 1972

Radical mechanism of aromatic ‘nucleophilic’ substitution

Ramesh Kumar; P.R. Singh

Floriculture research trend in India. Proceedings of the national symposium on Indian floriculture in the new millennium, Lal-Bagh, Bangalore, 25-27 February, 2002. | 2002

Effect of chemicals on vase life of gerbera.

Manreet Sooch; Kushal Singh; Ramesh Kumar; P.R. Singh; R. L. Misra; Sanyat Misra
