Novel heterodinuclear transition metal macrocyclic complexes: syntheses, characterization and crystal structures

Two unsymmetrical, macrocyclic, heterodinuclear complexes, [CuIIMII(L)] (ClO4)2·nH2O (n = 3; M = Zn, Cd) have been obtained by cyclocondensation of N,N′-bis(3-formyl-5-n-butylsalicylidene)ethylenediimine and 1,3-diaminopropane in the presence of M2+. The structures of both complexes were determined by X-ray diffraction techniques. In each complex, two metals are located in the tetraimine macrocyclic cavity, and a water molecule and a perchlorate group are separately coordinated to the metal ions on the same side of the ring. Coordination geometry around each metal is approximately square pyramidal. ESMS spectra were used to characterize the complexes and isotopic distributions were investigated.

Synthesis, characterization, magnetic and electrochemical studies of an asymmetric heterodinuclear macrocyclic complex

A macrocyclic heterodinuclear complex [Cu(II)Mn(II)L(H2O)2](ClO4)2 was synthesized by cyclo-condensation of N,N′-bis(3-formyl-5-n-butylsalicylidene)-ethylenediimine and diethylenetriamine in the presence of Cu2+ and Mn2+. The crystal structure of the complex was determined. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibilities and cyclic voltammograms of the complex were measured. [Cu(II)Mn(II)L(H2O)2](ClO4)2 displays very strong antiferromagnetic exchange and undergoes a one-electron transfer process.

Syntheses of Alkaline Earth and Lanthanide Cryptates with Pyridine-Based Group

Abstract New alkaline earth metal cryptates [ML] (NO3)2 · 2H2O (M = Ca2+, Sr2+, Ba2+; L = 1, 4, 12, 15, 18, 26, 31, 39, 42, 43, 44-undecaazapentacyclo-[13.13.13.16, 10.120, 24.133, 37]-tetratetraconta-4, 6, 8, 10(44), 11, 18, 20, 22, 24(43), 25, 31, 33, 35, 37(42), 38-pentadecaene) were synthesized by [2 + 3] template condensation of tris(2-aminoethyl) amine with 2, 6-diformylpyridine, and then by transmetallation reactions of the calcium cryptate [CaL] (NO3)2 · 2H2O with corresponding lanthanide ions; three lanthanide cryptates [LnL] (NO)3 · 3H2O (Ln = Eu, Gd, Tb) were synthesized and characterized by physical methods. The crystal structure of the terbium cryptate [TbL] (NO)3 · 3H2O was studied by X-ray analysis. The central atom was coordinated by three pyridyl and six imino nitrogen atoms and exhibited a distorted tricapped trigonal prismatic coordination geometry.
