Discussion on fuzzy quota harvesting model in fuzzy environment: fuzzy differential equation approach

Susmita Paul; Sankar Prasad Mondal; Paritosh Bhattacharya

In the recent years much importance has been laid on the role of uncertainty (fuzzy, interval etc.) in mathematical biology. In this paper we tried to study on the quota harvesting model in fuzzy environment. This model is considered in three different ways viz. (1) Initial condition (population density) is a fuzzy number, (2) coefficients of quota harvesting model (intrinsic growth rate and quota harvesting rate) are fuzzy number and (3) both initial condition and coefficients are fuzzy number. We discuss all these fuzzy cases individually. The solution procedure is done by using the concept of fuzzy differential equation approach. We have discussed the equilibrium points and their feasibility in all the three cases. This paper explores the stability analysis of the quota harvesting model at the equilibrium points in fuzzy environment. In order to examine the stability systematically in different fuzzy cases, we have used numerical simulations and discussed them briefly.

Diagnosing heterogeneous dynamics for wind particle trajectory in wavelet domain

Sabyasachi Mukhopadhyay; Ritwik Barman; Subhadip Dey; Asish Mitra; Prasanta K. Panigrahi; Paritosh Bhattacharya; K. K. Dhar

In this paper the dynamical changes of wind speed from summer to rainy season due to arrival of monsoon has been described. Wavelet transform based method identifies local dynamics of interest. This is accomplished using strong thresholding, whose advantage is to avoid the arbitary threshold that might conceal variability in raw data. Wavelet local maxima approach differentiates the seasonal variations due to arrival of monsoon. The results are furthur verified with Energy spectrum vs day plots for different seasons which also confirm the substantial changes.

Comparative Study of Radial Basis Function Neural Network with Estimation of Eigenvalue in Image Using MATLAB

Abhisek Paul; Paritosh Bhattacharya; Santi P. Maity

Radial Basis Functions (RBFs) are very important in neural network. In this paper various Radial Basis Functions of neural network such as Generalized Inverse Multi Quadratic, Generalized Multi Quadratic and Gaussian are compared with matrix of images. Mathematical calculation, comparative study and simulation of Eigen value of matrix show that Gaussian RBF performs better result and gives lesser error compared to the other Radial Basis Functions of neutral network.

Stemmer for resource scarce language using string similarity measure

Abhijit Debbarma; Bs Purkayastha; Paritosh Bhattacharya

This paper a work in progress describes a stemming of Kokborok language using a statistical approach. Stemming study of Kokborok is a new topic of research. Many stemming algorithms have been proposed for various languages. But the major work has been done only for English language. In recent times we have seen interest for non English languages too. However, very limited or no computational work has been observed for Kokborok language, a dialect spoken in the Tripura, India. Kokborok is a highly inflectional language. Linguistic knowledge and resources forms one of the basic requirement in building rule based stemmer. Kokborok a new language in this area of computational study suffer from this limitation. This work tries to build a Kokborok stemmer using a statistical approach based on string measure.

Enhancing Personalized Learning with Interactive Note Taking on Video Lectures–An Analysis of Effective HCI Design on Learning Outcome

Suman Deb; Paritosh Bhattacharya

E-learning, MOOCS etc. are the present time technology mediated unvoidable pedagogy tools, which along with social media and affordable device inclusion continues to be unabated. Video lectures form a primary as well significantly vital part of MOOC instruction delivery design beyond geogaphical and cultural boundaries. They serve as a gateway to draw students into the course. In going over these videos accumulating knowledge, there is a high occurrence of cases [1] where the learner forgets about some of the concepts taught and focus more on what is the minimum amount needed to carry forward so that the participant can attempt the quizzes, tests and pass required grade. This is a step backward when teaching pedagogy is concerned with giving the student a learning outcome that seems to bridge the gap between what they knew of the course and what level of knowledge upgrades after they have taken the course to completion. To address this issue, we are proposing an interaction model that enables the learner to promptly take notes as and when a learner is viewing a video. This paper contains modeling of UI (User Interaction) issues and discussion of a working prototype as the proposed application MOOCbook, aimed at composing personalized notes for MOOC takers. Several world leading MOOC providers content integrated using application program interface (API). Findings of the work and empirical study have revealed encouraging learning outcome with longer retention of MOOC contents.

Experimental study on shape and path of small bubbles using video-image analysis

Asish Mitra; Paritosh Bhattacharya; Sabyasachi Mukhopadhyay; K. K. Dhar

This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the shape and path of small bubbles rising in stagnant water. Bubbles, generated at the bottom of the chamber holding water, rise through it. A high speed camera (1000 fps, Kodak, Model 1000 HRC) together with a 90 mm Macro lens is placed at a height of 60 cm from the bottom of the chamber. It is linked with a PC. The commercial software Sigma Scan Pro 5.0 and Adobe Photoshop are used for image capturing and processing. Bubbles (diameters 5.8, 16.2, 20.8 mm) were generated at the bottom of the chamber holding the water. We find that bubbles have two steady shapes, a sphere and an ellipsoid in this diameter range. The spherical bubble (5.8 mm) remains close to the vertical line of release, follows a zigzag path while rising though water. An ellipsoidal bubble (16.2, 20.8 mm) switches to spiral path.

Application of (0, 1)-Matrix in Determination of Graphic Realization of Non-Increasing Positive Integer Sequence

Prantik Biswas; Abhisek Paul; Paritosh Bhattacharya

A finite sequence of nonnegative integers is said to be graphical if there exists a finite simple graph, such that the degrees of its vertices corresponds to the terms of the sequence. Such a graph is often termed as a realization of the given degree sequence. In this paper we have proposed an algorithm that determines the realization of a given degree sequence by constructing the adjacency matrix from the given sequence. The input to the algorithm is a non-increasing sequence of positive integers. The output of the algorithm is the decision (graphic or non-graphic), along with the adjacency matrix, provided the sequence is graphical.

Comparative Analysis of Radial Basis Functions with SAR Images in Artificial Neural Network

Abhisek Paul; Paritosh Bhattacharya; Santi P. Maity

Radial Basis Functions (RBFs) is used to optimize many mathematical computations. In this paper we have used Gaussian RBF (GRBF), Multi-Quadratic RBF (MQ-RBF), Inverse-Multi-Quadratic RBF (IMQRBF) and q-Gaussian RBF (q-GRBF) to approximate singular values of SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) color images. Simulations, mathematical comparisons show that q-Gaussian RBF gives better approximation with respect to the other RBF methods in Artificial Neural Network.

Frequency based named entity recognition system for under resource language

Abhijit Debbarma; Paritosh Bhattacharya; Bs Purkayastha

This paper tries to study the issues and challenges for developing a Named Entity Recognition (NER) system for a resource scarce language of north east India. Kokborok a language spoken in the state of Tripura is taken as the target language in developing our NER system. Kokborok is an under resource language and not much digital work is available. We have used the frequency based approach to test our work which gave us a satisfactory result. As this is the first NER system being studied upon for this language we consider this to be our baseline NER system for future research in this area.

Eigen Value and It’s Comparison with Different RBF Methods by Using MATLAB

Abhisek Paul; Paritosh Bhattacharya; Santi P. Maity

Neural network is being used in various research areas in recent time. In this paper we have introduced Radial Basis Function (RBF) of neural network for the analysis of Eigen value. Eigen value is the characteristic value of any given system. We have incorporated various radial basis functions such as Gaussian RBF, Multi-Quadratic RBF and Inverse-Multi-Quadratic RBF in matrix for the calculation of Eigen value. Comparative analysis and simulation results show that Gaussian RBF gives better result compared to the other relevant radial basis functions.
