Etude expérimentale du comportement d'une dalle pare-bloc

Pascal Perrotin; Michel Mommessin; Jean-Pierre Mougin; Jean Tonello

ABSTRACT The authors present a fast digest of an experimental study of rock-shed out of reinforced concrete. The objective is to develop a new type of work in which the kinetic energy of the blocks is dissipated by the setting of speed of the work and by the elastic strain afterwards plastic of the concrete and steel. Until now, this energy was dissipated within a thick cover in filling material whose the very significant mass penalized the dimensioning of the reinforced concrete work which did not intervene in the dissipation of energy. This experiment in (almost) true size makes it possible to validate an original theoretical approach which is not clarified here.

Structural monitoring: identification and location of an impact on a structurally dissipating rock-shed structure using the inverse method

Z. Boukria; Pascal Perrotin; A. Bennani; F. Dupray; Ali Limam

In this study we developed an experimental method to identify the impact force on a reinforced concrete slab. A transfer function obtained experimentally between the acceleration response and the force history applied to a point of the structure was used. To regularise the solution obtained with this inverse problem, we used the Tikhonov method. To locate the impact force, we used an experimental method based on the minimisation of an objective function created from the transfer functions between several impact locations, forming a mesh structure, and several measuring points. Characterising the impact means locating the impactor and identifying the load. Meanwhile, a numerical model is developed using Abaqus to characterise impact force, and allow access to the state constraints and damage level.

Experimental study of the dissipative efficiency of a multilayered protective structure against rockfall impact

Julien Lorentz; Frédéric-Victor Donzé; Pascal Perrotin; Pierre Plotto

ABSTRACT An experimental investigation of impact test is carried out to study a new multilayered protective structure against rockfall. This structure is composed of a concrete slab and a gravel layer. In order to determine which gravel material should preferably be used between pozzolana and sand small scale experimental impact tests are performed. Realistically scaled experiments show that coupling tires which contain geotextile socks filled with gravel and a thin concrete slab can be an interesting solution to dissipate the impact energy.

Measurement of the characteristics of a rapid dry granular flow

Ying Ma; Pascal Perrotin; Michel Mommessin; Jacky Mazars

This study investigated granular flows in an inclined channel. The aim was to analyze the characteristics of flow and their impact loads on a slightly sloping structure such as a snow shed. The physical properties were measured. The height of the flow was determined over time using a laser beam and a camera, identifying different flow regimes. Using the PIV method, we determined the flow’s velocity profile, the temperature profile and the bulk density of the flow by a new method based on image processing and integrating a calibration law. Finally, the spatiotemporal changes in impact pressures were obtained for different load sensor positions after the change in slope.

AUGC – IBPSA – 2012

Christophe Petit; Pascal Perrotin

In June 2012, the communities developed around the associations AUGC and IBPSA joined forces to organise the Chambery forum, under the sponsorship of these two associations. This gathering provided a unique opportunity to host exchanges and, by drawing inspiration from the multidisciplinary setting, to hopefully generate innovative ideas. The topics receiving widespread attention on the agenda were:
