Biochemistry and Cell Biology (Biochem. Cell Biol.) publishes reports of original research in English and French. A full paper reports a completed definitive study. A note reports a completed project of a smaller scope and should not exceed 4 printed pages. Minireviews, up to 5 printed pages total, present a critical perspective on a topic of current interest. Normally submission of minireviews is by invitation, but potential authors may contact the Editors with proposed topics. In addition, the Journal publishes invited reviews and symposia. Prospective authors or organizers of such contributions should communicate with the Editors to establish the suitability and timeliness of the topic for publication. Manuscripts for publication must be submitted to Dr. original and three clear copies of the manuscript, as well as all illustrations (see details specified in the section Illustrations), must be provided. Authors may suggest names of Associate Editors (for listing, see Notice to Authors) and of referees that may or may not be used, but the selection of the Associate Editor and referees is at the discretion of the Editors. When suggesting referees, please provide full addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail if available. Authors must affirm that no part of their manuscript is or will be submitted elsewhere for publication while under consideration by Biochemistry and Cell Biology. The corresponding author must confirm that all authors have read and approved the manuscript. Whenever a manuscript contains material (tables, figures, charts, etc.) that is protected by copyright, the author must secure written permission from the holder of the copyright to reproduce the material in both print and electronic formats. These letters must accompany the submitted manuscript. Submission of electronic copy — Authors are requested to submit the final accepted manuscript only, both in hard copy format and on disk. Four hard copies of the final version of the manuscript should be submitted. For figures, the original and three good photographic copies are required or, in the case of computer graphics, four original printouts. Photocopies are not acceptable. Electronic text files and figure files should be submitted on separate disks. All disks must be labeled clearly with the authors names. Text (including tables) should be provided in a word-processing format (any form of WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, or TeX is preferable, IBM compatible or Macintosh). TeX macros for preparing papers for submissions are available at nrc. Identify the word-processing software, version number, and type …
