INTRAOCULAR DRUG DELIVERY

The present invention comprises a macrolide immunosuppressant at a concentration of less than 2% w / v for use in the treatment of ocular disorders by topical application to the eye and an amphiphilic carbohydrate compound having a molecular weight in the range of 1-50 kDa. Aqueous composition, wherein the amphiphilic carbohydrate compound is present in a concentration of less than 10% w / v relative to the composition. A preferred carbohydrate compound is quaternary ammonium palmitoyl glycol chitosan (GCPQ). Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions and methods of treatment. The treatment can be, for example, dry eye syndrome (DES), spring keratoconjunctivitis (VKC), eczema, atopic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC), Sjogrens syndrome, after refractive surgery, corneal transplantation or contact lens intolerance.
