Publication

Featured researches published by Paul Galatsis.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1991

Use of iodobenzene diacetate for the synthesis of α-iodoepoxides

Paul Galatsis; Scott D. Millan

Abstract Exposure of tertiary allylic alcohols to iodobenzene diacetate-iodine under photochemical conditions results in formation of the corresponding α-iodoepoxides in good yield.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1994

Stereoselective synthesis of substituted oxetanes

Paul Galatsis; Daniel J. Parks

Abstract The stereospecific synthesis of substituted oxetanes was shown to be feasible through the use of a deconjugative aldol-cyclization sequence.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1996

STEREOCHEMICAL CONSEQUENCES IN THE DEPROTONATION OF ENOATES

Paul Galatsis; Jeffrey J. Manwell; Scott D. Millan

Abstract A cyclic transition structure for the deprotonation of enoates was proposed to rationalize the geometry of the deconjugated olefin and the substrate reactivity patterns.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1995

Deconjugative aldol-cyclization sequence for the construction of substituted 2-methoxytetrahydrofurans

Paul Galatsis; Jeffrey J. Manwell

Abstract We have shown that the conditions of iodine-pyridine provides a stereoselective method of cyclizing homoallylic alcohols derived from the deconjugative aldol reaction of methyl (E)-4-methoxy-3-butenoate.

Tetrahedron | 1995

Construction of fused bicyclic cyclooctane ring frameworks

Paul Galatsis; Jeffrey J. Manwell

Abstract A three step procedure beginning with cyclobutenyl ketones, prepared via a [2+2] cycloaddition-β-elimination sequence, provides fused bicyclic cyclooctane systems. This approach affords easy access to 1,4-cyclooctadione ring systems and complements the de Mayo reaction which generates 1,5-cyclooctadiones.

Journal of Organic Chemistry | 1994

TANDEM ALDOL-CYCLIZATION SEQUENCE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF CYCLIC ETHERS. THE FORMATION OF SUBSTITUTED TETRAHYDROFURANS

Paul Galatsis; Scott D. Millan; Patrik Nechala; George Ferguson

Journal of Organic Chemistry | 1993

1-Alkenylcycloalkoxy radical chemistry. A two-carbon ring expansion methodology

Paul Galatsis; Scott D. Millan; Tim Faber
