Total glans resurfacing for premalignant lesions of the penis: initial outcome data

Paul Hadway; Cathy Corbishley; Nicholas A. Watkin

To report our initial experience of total glans resurfacing (TGR), as premalignant lesions of the glans penis have conventionally been treated by local excision, topical chemotherapy, laser or cryotherapy, but these techniques are frequently associated with high local failure rates and unsightly scarring that can make monitoring by gross inspection difficult.

BJUI | 2007

Evaluation of dynamic lymphoscintigraphy and sentinel lymph-node biopsy for detecting occult metastases in patients with penile squamous cell carcinoma.

Paul Hadway; Yuko Smith; Cathy Corbishley; S. Heenan; Nicholas A. Watkin

To evaluate the introduction of dynamic lymphoscintigraphy and sentinel lymph‐node (SLN) biopsy (used to detect occult lymph node metastases in patients with penile cancer and clinically impalpable inguinal lymph nodes at presentation) at a UK tertiary referral centre for penile cancer.

Is the association between balanitis xerotica obliterans and penile carcinoma underestimated

Peter Pietrzak; Paul Hadway; Cathy Corbishley; Nicholas A. Watkin

To determine the incidence of balanitis xerotica obliterans (BXO) in a consecutive series of penile carcinomas in one centre, as BXO is a common penile disease that usually involves the prepuce and glans, and there have been sporadic case reports of the association between BXO and penile carcinoma, although it is uncertain if there is a specific causal relationship.

Increasing prostate biopsy cores based on volume vs the sextant biopsy: a prospective randomized controlled clinical study on cancer detection rates and morbidity

Sashi S. Kommu; David H.W. Lau; Paul Hadway; Suril Patel; Raj A. Persad; Nick Watkin

To determine if a volume‐adjusted increase in the number of biopsy cores could detect more prostate cancers than the standard sextant biopsy alone, without increasing morbidity, and to determine its applicability in Malaysian patients, as a standard sextant biopsy misses 20–25% of prostate malignancies.

Penile-preserving surgery for male distal urethral carcinoma

Yuko Smith; Paul Hadway; Shwan Ahmed; Matthew Perry; Catherine M. Corbishley; Nicholas A. Watkin

To evaluate medium‐term outcome data from patients with distal urethral cancers treated with penile‐preserving surgery.

BJUI | 2005

Current status of dynamic lymphoscintigraphy and sentinel lymph‐node biopsy in urological malignancies

Paul Hadway; Mark F. Lynch; S. Heenan; Nicholas A. Watkin

The lymphatics were mapped using lymphangiograms taken via the dorsal penile lymphatics. The SLN was located initially using an anterior-posterior radiograph. The junction of the femoral head and the ascending ramus of the pubis were found most often to contain the SLN centre. This corresponded anatomically to the lymph nodes adjacent to the superficial epigastric vein, which were located medial and superior to the epigastric-saphenous junction.

BJUI | 2006

Immunohistochemical analysis of negative inguinal lymph nodes in men with squamous cell carcinoma of the penis: are we missing micrometastases which could predict recurrence?

Olaf J. Biedrzycki; Paul Hadway; Angela Cooke; Nick Watkin; Cathy Corbishley

To determine the presence or absence of micrometastases in lymph node dissection specimens of men with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the penis using immunohistochemistry, and to correlate the results with clinical outcome.

BJUI | 2008

DNA topoisomerase I and IIα expression in penile carcinomas: assessing potential tumour chemosensitivity

Daniel M. Berney; Elzbieta Stankiewicz; Ahmed M.A. Adlan; Sakunthala Kudahetti; Olaf J. Biedrzycki; Paul Hadway; Nick Watkin; Cathy Corbishley

To examine the tissue expression of DNA topoisomerase I (Topo I) and IIα (Topo II), to pursue the possibility of future chemotherapy regimens for squamous cell carcinoma of the penis (SCCP), as high expression of Topo I might indicate sensitivity to the camptothecins, whereas high Topo II might indicate sensitivity to etoposide.

European Urology | 2007

Reconstructive Surgery for Invasive Squamous Carcinoma of the Glans Penis

Yuko Smith; Paul Hadway; Olaf J. Biedrzycki; Matthew Perry; Catherine M. Corbishley; Nicholas A. Watkin

BJUI | 2005

Squamous cell carcinoma antigen as a biomarker for penile cancer

Sashi S. Kommu; Paul Hadway; Nick Watkin
