A reinvenção da sexualidade masculina na paraplegia adquirida

In this work, the masculine sexuality is put into discussion taking in consideration the condition of a man with a medullar lesion. Its objective is to investigate the impact of the acquired paraplegia in the masculine sexuality. The methodological orientation adopted was the qualitative approach and the life story was obtained by means of interviews. The main conclusions indicate a displacement of the representations of masculinity - related to the strength, virility and violence to a more interior positioning and to the seek of ways of living the sexuality that value the singularity of experiences, rather than the traditional models.

Reich e o movimento de higiene mental

This essay takes two different research directions in order to investigate if the actions of the dissident psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich, in the cultural-scientific scenario of the first half of the twentieth century, allow us to associate him to the mental hygiene movement. One of the research directions is a review of some writings about the origins and the defining orientations of modern public health care, hygienism and especially the mental hygiene movement. The second one concerns a referring to Reichs work - articles, books, chapters, letters and interviews - aiming to observe: a) direct references to the mental hygiene movement; b) analyses or accounts of the authors actions linked to this movement; c) usages of its characteristic vocabulary. As a conclusion, understanding guidelines about Reichs participation in the cultural-scientific scenario of the first half of the twentieth century, regarding to the mental hygiene movement, were formulated.ABSTRACT. Reich e a possibilidade do bem-estar na cultura

Numa entrevista dada em 1952, Reich afirmou que o texto freudiano O mal-estar na cultura fora escrito em resposta a uma conferencia que proferira na casa do Freud sobre o tema profilaxia das neuroses. Inspirado nesse depoimento, este trabalho procura investigar as teses reichianas que se contrapoem ao pensamento freudiano de O mal-estar na cultura. Diferenciam-se as posicoes dos autores a partir das ideias de conflito inevitavel (Freud) e de possibilidade de harmonia (Reich). As principais nocoes focalizadas sao as de: sexualidade, agressividade e formacao reativa.

Notas sobre a noção de caráter em Reich

This article intends to extend the understanding of the theoretical foundations of the propositions made by the Austrian analyst Wilhelm Reich. It examines the notion of character as it appears in reichian work in the 1920s and in the beginning of the 1930s. It was mainly during this period of time that the author, then engaged with the psychoanalytical movement, developed the concept of character and organized his first therapeutic method: the character analysis. In more specific therms, this research aims: a) to present the connection between reichian reflections on character and certain approaches that appear in freudian writings; b) to contribute to the explanation of the notion of character as it is used in reichian texts published originally from 1922 to 1933. Among the subjects arising out of the study of Freuds and Reichs ideas on character, it can be emphasized the importance of investigating the character as a source of resistance. On the reichian particular ground, it ought to be pointed out the interrelation made by the author between character and ways of behavior.
