In this paper we present a personalized recommendation system, the RecommenderTV consistent with the reference implementation of the middleware Ginga. The implementation of the system RecommenderTV demanded the inclusion of new features to the middleware Ginga-NCL none exists in the implementation of reference. The service providers (in the analog system, broadcasters) and its importance to the system RecommenderTV are discussed in this work. The results obtained with three different mining algorithms running in a set-top box using real data provide by IBOPE Midia are presented. Finally, we are reported the results obtained from the experiments with the system of recommendation implemented.

This work presents the JiTV (Java Interactive Television) as a proposal of a platform that can be used for building digital multimedia content, specially in terms of the prototyping Interactive Digital Television Programs (iDTvP). Among the main features of the JiTV, we can put light on content description based on XML schema and implementation of iDTvP components using Java. In this context, the JiTV platform supports the full lifecycle (production, distribution, formatting, presentation and interaction) of the iDTvP, being full compliant to ISDTV (International System for Digital Television) middleware requirements and applied to IPTV applications and services. The JiTV platform is being used in some projects, such as in the both cooperation with academic projects over IPTV (JiTV is the infrastructure for experiments with iDTvP at Federal University of Santa Catarina and University of Sao Paulo - USP/LARC) and in brodcaster case over Brazilian Digital Televison System (JiTV is the infrastructure for building the interactivity plataform of the TVPoços - network operator associated to RedeMinas de Televisão).

Currently in Brazil, a fundamental change is taking place in TV: the migration from analogue to digital TV system. This change has two main implications: an increase in transmission capacity for new channels with the same bandwidth and the ability to send applications with multiplexed audio-visual content. Brazilian government aims to exploit the transmission capacity for new channels offering programming created to distance learning and thereby promoting social inclusion in the vast majority of the population. This information overload demands mechanisms to help students to browse and select what education programs are best suited to their current level. Personalized recommendation systems emerge as a solution to this problem, providing the viewer with educational programs relevant to his profile. In this paper we present a personalized recommendation system, the Recommender consistent with the reference implementation of the Brazilian digital TV system. Finally, we present the results obtained after using the proposed system.

This work aims to present strategies for implementation of a prototype of a sufficient platform for building of Interactive Services Provider (PSI), which can store, analyze and generate reports based on information derived from the interaction of TV viewers with applications in Digital Interactive Television, characterized by the use of a back channel. In case of brazilian scenario (Brazilian Digital Television System), the devdopment of a ISP (Internet Services Providers) platform is based-on the experience accumulated on development of the JiTV (Java Interactive Television) Platform, which includes the production in broadcaster, transmition over communication network and receiving/interaction on televiewing access terminal.

An essential change has been occurring in TV nowadays in Brazil: the migration from the analogical system to the system digital TV. A major impact of this change is the increasing capacity transmission of new channels. The electronic programming guide helps viewers to navigate between channels, but the measure that new channels are available it is inevitable that information overload occurs making systems EPG inadequate. This situation arises the need of personalized recommendation systems. In this paper we present a recommendation system compliant with the middleware Ginga. Are presented the results obtained with three different mining algorithms running in a set-top box using real data provide by IBOPE Midia. The IBOPE Midia is the company of the IBOPE group responsible for the communication, media, consumption and audience research.

This work, developed at the Interactive Digital Television Lab of the PUC Minas (Brazil), aims to present strategies for implementation of a prototype of a sufficient platform for building of Interactive Service Provider (ISP), which can store, analyze and generate reports based on information derived from the interaction of viewers with applications in Digital Interactive Television, characterized by the use of a back channel via Internet Protocol (IP). In case of brazilian scenario (Brazilian Digital Television System), the development of a ISP platform is based-on the experience accumulated with the development of the platform JiTV (Java Interactive Television), which includes the production in broadcaster enterprise, transmition over communication network and receiving on access terminal of the viewer, increasing for the use of back channel to interactivity actions.
