Lucia Madleňáková; Radovan Madleňák; Paweł Droździel; Ivan Kurtev

Abstract The paper include important aspects of layer model of postal technological system such as makes the possibility to define rules for regulating, technical and technological requirements and interfaces to communicate with other postal systems. The current postal reform is mainly attributable to release of network access and ensuring full interoperability between technological systems. Not only to ensure the development and protection of competition but also in respect to the conservation of requirements to provide the universal service, which is the performance of public interest. There is a space here to examine the postal system, not only from a procedural point of view, but to be viewed as an open communication system. It is possible to find there the commonalities with other communication sector branches and to handle the technological postal system in more layers; similarly as the electronic communication systems are handled. Model of layer postal system, based not only on the processes but on layers functionality, will enable to identify communication protocols and interfaces determining interoperability. It also opens the question of appropriate regulation model.

ANALYSIS OF POSSIBILITIES TO IMPROVE ENVIRONMENTAL OPERATING PARAMETERS OF MODERN COMPRESSION – IGNITION ENGINES

Tomasz Osipowicz; Karol Franciszek Abramek; Dalibor Barta; Paweł Droździel; Maciej Lisowski

The aim of this study was to analyse the possibilities of improving the ecological parameters of compression – ignition CI engines. During the analysis of exhaust gas, attention was mainly paid to the emission of nitrogen oxides and carbon black soot. A method was proposed to reduce the above chemical elements in CI – engine exhaust fumes by using the annular channels on the non-working part of the fuel injector needle and applying a platinum catalyst on them. The task of these annular channels is to mix and agitate the fuel before injection to the combustion chamber and to enlarge the contact surface area of catalyst. The task of catalytic coating is to initiate the reaction of dehydrogenation of paraffinic hydrocarbons to olefinic ones with a free hydrogen molecule. Hydrogen, owing to its properties, can shorten the period of delay of spontaneous ignition of combustible mixture in the engine combustion chamber, which affects the entire combustion process and improves the ecological parameters of a CI engine.

OVERVIEW OF SELECTED HYDRAULIC DEVICES SUPPORTING ROAD RESCUE OPERATIONS

Jacek Caban; Paweł Droździel; Ján Vrábel

The intense human activity determines the continuous development of systems and means of transport, which contributes to the intensification of existing road traffic risks and the emergence of new ones. Reduction in the number of fatalities of road accidents is dependent on investment in transport infrastructure, the development of safety systems for means of transport and the care for the technical condition of vehicles. Furthermore, the human factor is manifested in the growing awareness of hazards and improving skills of vehicle drivers. The article presents the construction, operating principles and technical capabilities of the most commonly used hydraulic rescue tools. All this was presented against the background of selected problems occurring during rescue operations while releasing victims caught in car wrecks.

The aim of this paper is to determine the effect of arrangement of fibreglass fabric plies in a polymer composite on adhesive joint strength. Based on the experimental results, the real effect of plies arrangement and their most favourable configuration with respect to strength is determined. The experiments were performed on 3 types of composites which had different fibre orientations. The composites had three plies of fabric. The plies arrangement in Composite I was unchanged, in Composite II the central ply had the 45° orientation, while in Composite III the outside ply (tangential to the adhesive layer) was oriented at 45°. Composite plates were first cut into smaller specimens and then adhesive-bonded in different combinations with Epidian 61/Z1/100:10 epoxy adhesive. After stabilizing, the single-lap adhesive joints were subjected to shear strength tests. It was noted that plies arrangement in composite materials affects the strength of adhesive joints made of these composites between the values of the strength of the confidence level of 0.95. The statistical analysis of the results also showed that there are no statistical significant differences in average values of surface free energy (0.95 confidence level).

Quantitative Analysis of the Competitive Environment in the Electronic Communications Sector

Lucia Madleňáková; Mária Matúšková; Radovan Madleňák; Paweł Droździel

The contribution is devoted to the problem of determining the degree of concentration in relation to indicators typical of the electronic communications sector. At present, concentration monitoring is very important. The reason is the significant impact of the incumbent on some relevant markets, which is not particularly desirable from the point of view of end-user protection or existing barriers to entry. So, this situation is primarily in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, even though the market has been fully liberalized for several years. The rapid growth of technologies in this sector is a significant factor in the growth of concentration too.

BURNOUT OF UNIVERSITY EMPLOYEES AND ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING-TEACHING PROCESS QUALITY

Paweł Droździel; Anna Walczyna; Anna Arent

The functioning of the contemporary university requires drawing attention to its human capital. In assessing the quality, not only knowledge, skills, experience, but also values, attitudes, motivation or involvement of university teachers, for whom the main threat appears to be burnout, should be taken into account. This is because a high level of emotional commitment to work, the identification with didactic and educational duties, is a factor that contributes to burnout and even is conditioning it. Moreover, burnout is favoured by the nature of contemporary work which mainly requires intellectual effort, particularly in terms of high stress. By analyzing the learning-teaching process from an academic teachers point of view, its proper course can interfere or hinder, in principle, all symptoms of stress and burnout. The physiological effects of stress and symptoms of emotional exhaustion result in a reduction in the employees overall disposition. Psychological symptoms affect academically important features of the academic teacher, such as memory, concentration or objectivity. Symptoms related to the pattern of behaviour and depersonalization, instrumental treatment of students, may adversely affect their perception and therefore the expectations formulated towards them and, consequently, the actual achievements. Burned out academic teacher, who draws no satisfaction from their jobs can potentially blame the students, assigning them various negative features. Also organizational effects of stress and burnout can negatively affect the actual course and perception of the learning-teaching process and its quality. This article presents the results of the quantity-quality research devoted to the problem that have been carried out among university teachers of Lublin. It shows that teachers, who in their subjective assessment experience varying degrees of burnout, rate lower selected elements of the quality of learning-teaching. The observed differences concern both the overall assessment of the quality of the learning-teaching process as well as the student factor (student preparation for classes, their interest in activities and personal culture) and organizational one (daily and weekly schedules, and housing conditions). The obtained results allowed to partially confirm the correlation between burnout and perception of the learning-teaching process by assessing its quality and indication of directions of potential actions, which will reduce the negative impact of the researched phenomenon.

The road safety depends on many factors, including the efficiency of the technical system and the disposal of the driver of the vehicle. As wear of most of the vehicle assemblies threatened only with a breakdown, excessive wear of the braking system components may pose a risk of a traffic accident. The article presents a study on the quality of the brake fluid conductivity as a function of temperature and water content conducted for a selected group of vehicles. This group of vehicles was characterized by different production date and had a different of vehicle mileage. We presented the methodology of statistical analysis of the quality of brake fluid tests in selected 38 passenger vehicles in operation.
