The next computer technology revolution prompted by the birth of the Internet of Things (IoT) without a doubt is going to impact health services, particularly eHealth. This paper introduces a formal model integrating IoT and eHealth under the umbrella of service science. The service science component assures that innovative and commerce aspects of a new service denoted SSME/IoT/eHealth is at least equally important as the technology aspects related to architecture and corresponding design methodologies. The medical aspect of the paper has been addressed by a join American-Polish forum associated with the Wroclaw Medical Park in Wroclaw, Poland.

The aim of the paper is to discuss some issues related to services composition in service oriented systems based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) paradigm. The main feature of service oriented architecture is that the required services may be efficiently and flexibly composed of available well-defined components providing certain functionalities. It is rather obvious that the flexibility and availability of complex services, composed of commonly-shared components, may be limited in environment where concurrent requests should be satisfied. In gain to discuss complex services availability as dependent on components availabilities and complex service structure a model of complex service is introduced. The latter is used to discuss various aspects of service availability in context of service structure and components availabilities changes.

Services for eHealth usually work as data stream processing systems. Such systems growing demand causes the reusable services and other Service Oriented Architecture advantages become more and more popular in eHealth applications. Complexity of this kind of systems is going to be a major problem. Discussed systems consist of many components which fulfil patient or sportsman requirements. They are very difficult to build manually and be scalable. In response to this challenge we propose a platform for automatic building composite streaming services. This paper describes triple-step composite streaming service construction. The results of the platform efficiency are presented.

Many distributed applications require bandwidth provisioning to implement their functionality. A prominent example is a remote real-time monitoring service in e-health system, where a special type of emergency requests require strict guaranties regarding provided transmission rates. We consider the problem of network capacity sharing between two types of flows: standard best-effort flows and QoS-constrained flows. We derive distributed control algorithms for dynamic capacity allocation allowing to serve the QoS-constrained flows by preempting the best-effort flows. Such solution minimizes the amount of unused capacity. We also present how to estimate the capacity needed to deploy QoS-based application in a way to minimize the number of flow preemptions. The presented solution is evaluated in a simulation environment.

This paper presents a software framework (called Platform) for rapid development of QoS-sensitive service applications. The framework also provides applications computational services (algorithms) for data processing and decision making, and uses a middleware solutions for service management and QoS-aware composition. An e-health service application is also described as illustrative use-case for our Platform.

In more and more countries the number of citizens with double nationality is growing substantially. In their developing stage, current eHealth technologies are oriented towards helping the native patients rather than those speaking a foreign language that limits an access to the medical care. Nowadays, most people search the web for the medical symptoms of their disorders before going to the General Practitioner (GP), however multinational patients have limited chance to access eHealth care services not only owning to the lack of medical knowledge, but specifically due to their language barriers. In this study we investigate eHealth services on multilingual information access and online communication gap between the patients and the nurses or healthcare professionals.

The paper contains a description of Methodology and its supporting online tools which allow for efficient identification of optimization problems in transport organizations and for fast development of prototype solution. The proposed Methodology benefits from the agile approach to software development. The result of applying the Methodology with support of the Process Optimization Platform in context of an organization is a prototype of a decision support system. This prototype can be evaluated with a sample of live data representing real life problems of an organization. This way the organization can easily verify potential quality of software development process and benefits related to implementation of a decision support system.
