This paper discusses the requirements imposed by broadband services on location of service control. Discussion is based on the early results of TINA consortium. TINA proposes a modular object-oriented control architecture which allows services to be designed with little consideration on the fmal deployed configuration. This flexibility promotes “free competition” between locations of service control, between CPE and telecom platforms in particular.
