Technique for simultaneous multiple-column gradient elution chromatography

Per Vestergaard

Abstract A technique for simultaneous gradient elution chromatography on a number of chromatographic columns is described. The same gradient is used for a set of standards and for mixtures of unknowns. The technique has great flexibility and allows easy change of gradient during a run.

Automatic read-out systems for multiple column chromatography with an adaptation to computer calculations

Per Vestergaard; Sven Vedsø

Abstract Two commercially available systems for automatic colorimetry have been incorporated in automatic read-out systems for multiple column chromatography. One of these systems ahs been adapted to computer calculations.

A multicollector: a fraction collector for the simultaneous collection of fractions from a number of chromatographic columns

Per Vestergaard

Abstract A fraction collector for the simultaneous collection of fractions from a number of chromatographic columns is described. The collector is simple in design, easy to construct and is inexpensive to build. Limitations and advantages of the apparatus are discussed.

High-capacity multi-channel computerized read-out system for multi-column chromatography

Per Vestergaard; Lars Hemmingsen; Poul Wallø Hansen

Abstract A computerized multi-channel read-out system for multi-column chromatography is described. It has a capacity of a hundred chromatograms per day when three channels are used and this can be expanded to four hundred chromatograms per day by the use of all twelve channels. The system is compared with other high-capacity systems for automated chromatography.

A system for simultaneous 25-column, capillary column liquid—solid chromatography

Per Vestergaard; Erik Jacobsen

Abstract A system for simultaneous 25-column, capillary column liquid—solid chromatography is described. It uses compressed nitrogen to drive the eluant through the capillary columns. A comparison with a system using chromatographic pumps shows that the nitrogen system costs 80% less per channel, has better rsolution and higher reproducibility and there are fewer maintenance problems. The problem of the more variable flow rate has been overcome by the addition of an internal standard.

Multi-column liquid chromatography : IV. Computerized on-line spectrophotometric quantitation system for multi-column liquid chromatography

Per Vestergaard; Alvin Bachman; Theodore Piti; Michael Kohn

Abstract A system for fast high-capacity quantitation of liquid chromatograms has been built. Chromatographic samples in multi-cuvettes are moved by a transporter past a light beam that is sent from a monochromator through the multi-cuvette to a photo-multiplier tube. The optical data are sampled and processed by a minicomputer and results plotted on-line as chromatograms with a simultaneous output of calculated peak values on an electrostatic printer/plotter.

Magazine fed fraction collector for multi-column liquid chromatography

Per Vestergaard; Clinton Witherell; Theodore Piti

Abstract A redesign of a previously described fraction collector for multi-column liquid chromatography is presented. A more practical and compact design is obtained through the use of vertical magazines for the delivery of empty test tubes and for storage of filled tubes.

Journal of Chromatography A | 1975

Multi-column liquid chromatography : III. New techniques for multi-column liquid chromatography

Per Vestergaard

Abstract New techniques for multi-column chromatography include a new system using nitrogen pressure and a system using a single pump to drive an eluent simultaneously through a number of chromatographic columns.

Journal of Chromatography A | 1975

Multi-column liquid chromatography : I. A new multi-collector for simultaneous fraction collection from a number of chromatographic columns

Per Vestergaard

Abstract A new type multi-collector for the simultaneous collection of fractions from a number of chromatographic columns is described. It allows collection directly in multi-cuvettes for direct quantitation or in PTFE collection modules for initial reaction and transfer to multi-cuvettes for quantitation.
