In this note we examine the population structure of Pinus radiata, exotic plant that is invading fragments of the Maulino Forest. We evaluate pine density, age, proportion of reproductive individuals across 8 forest fragments. Our results indicate a high proportion of young individuals and reproductive individuals growing inside fragments. Moreover, the fragment size is negatively correlated with pine density but, the proportion of reproductive individuals are not correlated with this landscape attribute. Our result indicate the existence of a pine population that is actively invading forest fragments, a fact that needs to be considered in conservation plans of this native forest.

In this note we examine the population structure and breeding phenology of Adesmia bijuga Phil. The area of development of the study was Curepto, Maule Region, central Chile. Our results indicate a high vulnerability of local extinction of the studied population due low population size and disturbed habitat. Flowering and fructification of individuals exists, nevertheless absence of seedlings suggesting restrictions to the regeneration in the population of A. bijuga. It is recommended to continue with the research. Actions of conservation ex situ for the species are realized by the botanical garden of the Talca University.

In this note we examine the population structure of Teline monspessulana, an exotic plant that is invading fragments of the Maulino Forest. We evaluate density T. monspessulana, sizes, proportion of reproductive individuals and his relation with the size of the patches in 8 forest fragments. Our results indicate a high proportion of individuals growing inside fragments. Moreover, the fragment size is not correlated with T. monspessulana density.

In this note the vegetative reproduction and chromosome number of Adesmia bijuga Phil., an endemic shrub of Central Chile, that is classified as a critically endangered species, is investigated. Our results indicate a positive response of A. bijuga to the shoot rooting by means of promoting hormones. The chromosome number of A. bijuga is 2n = 20. Most of the chromosomes are metacentrics and of small size.

We examine the distribution and ecology of Chaptalia exscapa (Pers.) Baker var. chilensis (DC.) Burkart in the Talca Province, Maule Region. It is reports new data related to the morphology of the plant and the presence of Chaptalia in four new localities in the Maule Region. The populations present a high vulnerability due low population size and disturbed habitat. Flowering and fructification of individuals is scanty.
