Ropa a jej postavenie v globalizácii svetového hospodárstva

This study is devoted to analysis of different aspects of world oil market development and its role in further growth of individual national economies, especially in connection with the ever intensifying globalization process. The study shows individual aspects and parts of the oil market, be it production and consumption of crude oil, its territorial dislocation, including EU, and also an analysis of the impact that has the development of oil consumption on economical results of individual national economies. In the first place it analyses the connections with the growth of competition ability of companies. Further research is devoted to the establishment of crude oil price and to the most important aspects on which depends the price creation process. Supply and demand factors are also analyzed. The study comes to a conclusion that the biggest obstacle in using the crude oil will not be its availability, at least in the short run, but the ever fast increasing price. This high price will enable the use of oil only to such companies and countries that will be able to implement the oil in the production process with very high efficiency. Such conditions satisfy only products and services that are based on unique technical and scientific know-how, with high added value, or in such areas of national economies where the use of oil is unenviable.

Analýza závislosti exportu SR na vývoji ekonomiky SRN

The article analyses relationship between exports of goods and services of Slovakia and the development of economy of Germany as its major trading partner. On the basis of available data, it identifies the extent to which the export of SR depends on development of GDP in Germany, changes of its internal demand and also the extent to which there is a correlation between Slovak and German exports. Cointegration analysis, used to obtain relevant information about these links, verified on real data if there is a long-term equilibrium relationship between these variables and whether the intensity of dependence is really so high. Achieved results suggest that the Slovak exports and imports of goods to Germany, as well as the export of goods from Germany abroad, shows an intensive, long-term equilibrium relationship which largely determines the performance of Slovak economy and its competitiveness on international markets.

For the past three decades, South Korea has remained one of the fastestgrowing economy in the world. Even with the financial crisis since end of1997 to mid-1998, this country continued succesful by developmnet of strongeconomic fundamentals. The causes of financial crisis were generallyconcentrated in two main areas: influence of structural factors inherent inKorean capitalism and unsustunaible deterioration of macroeconomic results.As is well known, ratio of short term debt was extremely high. The totalforeign debt amounted to about USD 150 bill. as of end of 1997. Thefinancial panic caused liquidity crunch that stemmed from the sudden shiftin the market expectations and confidence. After the Korean governmentsdecision to accept the Bailout program of IMF and rescue financialpackage, the economy has been undergoing significant changes in mostimportant spheres. There were concentradet to the area of the activities offinancial and banking institutions, restructuralization of industrialpolicy, adaptation processes of various activities of leading businessconglomerats - chaebols (merging). OOn the other hand many experts calledattention to the need for changes to the global financial system. The maininternal point of the sucess of the Reform pprogram depends on the abilityto change the industrial and export structure of doemstic economy and createthe favourable developing space for foreign investors. The danger offinancial crisis is in its expansion across Asia during past year andfinally in beginning the reverbate world-wide.

Vstup do Európskej Únie - ekonomická nevyhnutnou alebo politická ambícia Slovenskej republiky?

High rates of GDP growth in the last three years, but also fundamental change and a level of adaptation processes in the structure of economy is crucial feature of Slovaks admission strategy to the EU. The success of this process is conditioned not only by the satisfaction of economic criteria but also political conditions.
