The article deals with the issue of modularity as a tool for flexible and efficient production systems. When having closer look at implemented terms in production structures there emerges amount of terms used, such as: flexible, modular, modular manufacturing systems, which are often viewed from a subjective point of view. Due to efforts to standardize and clarify the terms referred above this paper brings definitions of flexible production structures terminology, their relationships and new idea for the efficient division.

Virtual Machining and its Experimental Verification Research, verification and implementation of various methods of rapid prototyping are getting more intensified in the recent time. One of possible rapid prototyping techniques is a virtual machining which allows testing the properties of designed machine tool using its mathematical model. This article presents the example of virtual machining on a virtual small centre lathe and experimental verification of obtained results.

Three-temperature heating systems consist of a heat engine and a heat pump, enabling thus maximum usage of the primary thermal source for the heating of buildings. This analysis has revealed obvious advantages and disadvantages that the combining of thermodynamic systems has in future development, also with respect to environmental and economic issues. It appears that the combination of a Stirling engine or a similar heat drive with a heat pump is especially suitable. In order to analyze the effectiveness of such a system, a comprehensive calculation procedure is used: its basis lies in accounting for all types of energy and their relationship to the original natural resource. The present paper aims to point out that the combination of Stirling engine and a heat pump is a useful solution thanks to the most favorable resultant economic impact if compared to the usage of a diesel, four-stroke gas, or, most commonly used, electric drive.

The motive behind the effort to make virtual prototyping more sophisticated is first of all cost reduction of manufacturing machine design, followed by reduction of lead time for development, prototyping and testing of the pre-manufacturing machine series. This article deals with the analysis of manufacturing precision of a 3-axial, numerically controlled milling machine. The methodology for precision analysis rests on a selected simplified numerical calculation model of a manufacturing machine on which virtual machining has been conducted. The mechanical inaccuracy itself is calculated by computer via the FEM analysis. The results are processed for visualization by the Excel software.

The aim of this paper is to draw attention to more reliable verification method of positioning accuracy. The improvement lies in mathematical elimination of thermal impact during the measurement process. This thermal impact, always present during the motion of movable parts, is of a special systemic character. It increases the indefiniteness of measurement of the classic measurement method. This measurement uncertainty can be reduced by implementing the procedure introduced in this paper. The reduction can be achieved by separating the temperature impact from other sources of inaccuracy. Such separation is a very new solution. The methodology relies on mathematical processing and does not depend on the manner of accuracy measurement. The evaluation method also yields diagnostic information on the machine’s condition. The experiments were performed with the use of laser interferometer.

The article deals with the renovation of an automatic feeder device into an industrial washing machine that removes dirt, residues of cutting oil and coolant after previous machining. The old feeding device showed frequent disturbances. It was therefore necessary to propose a solution that would eliminate common failure. The choice is sliding guides to resulted mainly from the summary of the factors resulting from aggressive environments at the application site and the presence of minor impurities after previous machining.

The article deals with the simplified calculation of the stiffness of the eccentric press frame. The described method applies to the solving of problem a mathematical identification of condition parameters in the press frame the transfer matrix method (TMM), which is in essence a matrix form of initial parameters method. This method is suitable for mechanical systems with continuously distributed mass in space while the cross-sections along the entire length of the system are not constant.

This article focuses on issue of proposal ideal tool paths for machine tools. Model of machine consists from 6 basic knots where milling machine disposes spindle placed in the horizontal direction are. Based on mathematical analysis we can detect the movement of machine axes for uncertainty investigated. The calculated values can be compared with machine model developed in Computer - Aided Design. Defining the shape of workpiece as well as assigning an appropriate instrument can be determined by true value of precision workpiece. After substituting the values of specific dimensions we get the final position of vectors point for contact in tool coordinate systems at individual model solids.

The suggested URM 01 module (Unlimited Rotational Module 01) with rotary motion linkage, is designed for machines with a required feature of unlimited rotational movement, and its design and construction is based on a modular principle. The main advantage of the proposed solution is the ability to draw, from a single type of module, machines with various motion capabilities and different degrees of freedom of movement while utilizing the feature of infinite rotation of two adjacent modules interlinked by rotational movement.

The article analyzes the possibility of automatized generation of workspace resulting from random movement of the end module of a serial kinematic chain by means of numerical mathematical analysis. The methodology is applicable to physical structures with various degrees of freedom of movement. The newly proposed concept of a universal rotation modulus with an optimized 90° interface curvature provides the possibility to construct such physical structures, and the referred methodology identifies their main feature - the scope and shape of workspace.
