The paper outlines briefly the early exploration of the Kananaskis Valley by whites and describes in more detail the developments since 1884. Could we have anticipated those developments had we been asked to prepare a forest management plan for the area 100 years ago — a typical rotation period? What about the next 100 years — the next rotation — can we cope? Yes, if we use our intelligence, keep our visions, adapt to reality and maintain a sense of humour.
