Acoustics of naturally ventilated double transparent facades

Daniel Urbán; N.B. Roozen; Peter Zat’ko; Monika Rychtarikova; Peter Tomašovič; Christ Glorieux

This publication presents results of research on naturally ventilated Double Transparent Facades (DTF). The influence of the structural design of DTFs on the airborne sound insulation was investigated. For this purpose, 9 DTFs were measured in situ and 9 Double Transparent Facade Elements (DTF) were measured in a laboratory environment. The influence of the cavity thickness, the parallelism of the constitution layers, the amount of absorbing surfaces in the cavity, and the effect of ventilation slots were investigated. Based on the performed measurements, a prediction model that allows a fast engineering calculation of the sound insulation of DTF’s was developed.

The Effect of a Front Frame on the Increase in Sound Insulation of an Acoustically Simple Wall - Results of On-Site Measurements

Dušan Dlhý; Peter Tomašovič; Peter Petrák; Peter Zaťko

The experience of performed measurements of sound deadening of building structures in constructions sites shows a frequently occurring fact, which is that the walls separating living rooms of separate flats do not meet the required values under the standard. Contractors, designers, but often also the users of flats choose untrusted compositions of auxiliary constructions, whose effect is rather questionable.

The Use of Simulation Tools in the Assessment of External Stationary Sources in Terms of Noise

Dušan Dlhý; Peter Tomašovič

The article is focused on the application of the simulation program to calculate the predicted noise levels from a stationary noise source. These findings are particularly important in the case of protected buildings in category II. According to the Health Ministry Decree No. 549/2007 of the Laws. It gives a concrete solution by simulation program CADNA A, for the purposes of noise study.

The Results of Experimental Measurements of the Effects of Floating Floor Washers

Dušan Dlhý; Peter Tomašovič; Peter Petrák

Many manufacturers of spring washers laid under floating floors express the effect of the reduction in a normalized impact noise level as a single digit number ∆L(dB) without defining the composition of the ceiling construction and wear layer, where the reduction in impact noise has occurred. This expression represents the quality and efficiency of washers for general public as well as for experts (architects, designers), which however, cannot be achieved by in situ (on site) measurements.

Effects of the Sound Insulation of the Outer Structure on the Price

Dušan Dlhý; Peter Tomašovič

Manufacturers indicate sound insulation of envelope structures of different materials. Acoustical properties of manufactured openings as windows and doors (plastic, wooden, metallic) are known. Following theoretic relations for calculation of consequential sound insulation of acoustic composite wall Rw, it is possible to work out options of walls and openings of various materials.

Acoustic Analysis of Double Transparent Facades in Bratislava

Daniel Urbán; Peter Tomašovič

Implementation of double transparent facades (DTF) into architectural concept of modern intelligent buildings is a well established trend of modern administrative building design. The Positive influence on acoustic comfort of a working place caused by this type of envelope construction is evident. DTF allow building designing in high noise exposure urban areas. Comparison of eight DTF from structural and acoustic properties point of view is presented in this paper. Results from acoustic measurements of buildings situated in Bratislava were analyzed.

The Assessment of Sports Halls – The Analysis of Reverberation Time, Strength and Clarity

Martin Jedovnický; Peter Tomašovič

This article presents the results of analysis of impulse responses which were obtained from in situ measurement in sports hall called Karlovka. The experiment deals with the comparison of two positions of the measuring microphone which had the identical distance from the sound source and the reverberation time was different in the whole frequency range. The attention was focused on the analysis of suitability of Reverberation time RT, Strength G and Clarity C80 to be used for the assessment of sports halls.

Influence of Double Transparent Facades on Acoustic Comfort at the Workplace

Daniel Urbán; Dušan Dlhý; Peter Tomašovič; Peter Zaťko

Comfort in the workplace is a priority for employers to achieve higher efficiency of their employees. The issue of an ideal environment in buildings and improving psycho factors are increasingly current topic. In areas with high noise level (LAeq) in exterior, it is difficult to achieve the acceptable noise level (LAEX,8h) defined in the Regulation of the Government 115/2006, while maintaining the possibility of opening windows in the office. Double transparent facade (DTF) is one of the alternatives to achieve the effect. This paper presents an initial analysis of acoustic measurements DTF focused on the insulation, conducted at the central building of the Ingsteel company in Tomášikova street in Bratislava. The paper is supported by the project VEGA č.1/0358/13.

Comparison Measuring Methods of Sound Insulation of Double Transparent Facade - NBS Bratislava

Daniel Urbán; Peter Zaťko; Dušan Dlhý; Peter Tomašovič

Acoustic of double transparent facades (DTF) is globally resolved only marginally. This paper presents the procedure and results of one of the acoustic measurements of DTF, which were carried out on the territory of Bratislava city. Measured was facade of the headquarters of the National Bank of Slovakia. This analysis is aimed at measuring of sound insulation of DTF, and the impact of using different sources of noise on the standardized level difference D2m,nT. The research is supported by grant project VEGA no.1/0358/13.
