Abstract Research on Economic Losses (consequences) due to Failure to Ensure Occupational Safety and Health Requirements in the Construction Sector was conducted by the order of the Ministry of Social Security and Labour (contract No. 2594-AP). The conducted scientific analysis shows the state of occupational safety and health at work in the construction sector, estimates economic consequences for accidents at work, indicates the economic benefits of investment for occupational safety and health and presents the results of research, findings and recommendations. This would allow to reduce occupational diseases and the number of accidents at work and herewith to avoid economic consequences for state and construction enterprises.

Abstract Statistical data regarding causes and number of accidents in enterprises and organisations allow to foresee the average number of traumas for a definite period when no additional means for trauma prevention have been provided. The trauma prevention means differ because they require different financing and decreasing the number of traumas. The suggested mathematical methods give the possibility to appraise the means of trauma prevention according to the definite sum invested. Some accidents are related to individual miss-steps/mistakes at work. Trying to find out the ways for optimal trauma prevention we can take the latter causes as statistical game of “nature” state and certain possible situations of existing in determination. They are impossible to be changed, though some preventive means applied by employees may decrease the trauma cases caused by individual safe control violation. As soon as the optimal strategy of the aforementioned matrix game is found, the most important preventive means c...

Summary The main purpose of this scientific research is to estimate social and economical consequences of accidents at work and occupational diseases and prepare recommendations to avoid negative economical and social consequences. To achieve this purpose the methods of selection, poll, statistical analytical and mathematical modeling methods were used. The analysis of present workers health was accomplished and safety conditions in separate economic areas were estimated. Manufacturing, building, agricultural economy and transport companies were studied more detailed. Estimating economical consequences of accidents at work and occupational diseases these expenses were estimated: • Paid by social insurance regarding accidents and occupational diseases per year. • The missed days at work regarding accidents and occupational diseases. • Losses of working capacity are: • Regarding serious accidents per year; • Regarding serious accidents during time left until retirement; • Regarding occupation diseases per y...
