Two new fullerene derivatives have been synthesized, which tend to form Langmuir monolayers. Robust monomolecular layers are formed at the air/water interface, that can be transferred onto hydrophilic substrates by Langmuir–Blodgett or Langmuir–Schaefer techniques. The measured areas per molecule (105 A2 for 1a dropped from a deuteriochloroform solution at 20 °C) reach those expected for a true monolayer of C60 at the air/water interface.

Abstract To prepare a series of bis(1,1-dicyanoethylene-2,2-dithiolato)transition metal complexes, M(ct) 2 is described. The conducting molecular crystals based on a variety of organic donors and M(ct) 2 were synthesized by electrochemical oxidation. The crystal structures were determined by x-ray diffraction. The electrical properties and the results of X.P.S. are reported.

Abstract Organic single crystals of (BEDT-TTF) 4 Cu(C 2 O 4 ) 2 have been prepared and their properties studied. The conductivity at room temperature is 55 S/cm. The temperature dependence of resistivity has been measured.

Abstract The crystal structure of a novel quasi three-dimensional organic conductor (BEDT-TTF) 4 Cu(C 2 O 4 ) 2 (BEDT-TTF: bis(ethylenedithio)-tetrathiafulvalene) is determined by X-ray analysis. Each temperature dependence of resistivity and ESR intensity exhibits anomalies at about 260, 160 and 65 K. The anomaly observed at 65 K is ascribed to metal-insulator transition; the energy gap is 15 meV. The transition at 260 K can be considered to be a kind of metal-metal transition related to the lattice distortion of the complex.

Abstract The crystal and electronic band structures of a novel quasi-three-dimensional organic conductor (BEDT-TTF) 4 Cu(C 2 O 4 ) 2 (BEDT-TTF: bis(ethylenedithio)tetrahiafulvalene) are reported. The anomalies at about 260, 160 and 65 K, which have been detected from the temperature dependence of resistivity and ESR, are discussed by comparing with the specific heat measurement result. The anomalies at about 260 and 160 K can be considered to be a kind of metal-metal transition related to the lattice distortion. The anomaly at about 65 K is a metal-insulator transition which is dominated by the electronic transition.

Abstract The single crystals of (TSeC 1 -TTF) X HgBr 2 have been prepared, which show the lowest resistivity among the TSeC 1 -TTF complex. In the present paper their electrical and magnetic properties are reported.

Abstract ESR of the single crystal of high Tc superconductor YBCO is examined to study the relationship between superconducting state and ESR activity. The experiment was performed between RT to 4.7K with varying the angle of applied magnetic field to a single crystal plane. The relationship stated above is discussed in the present paper.
