Metal complexes of malondihydrazide

A. Dutta Ahmed; Pradyut Kumar Mandal; N. Ray Chaudhuri

Abstract Metal complexes of malondihydrazide have been studied. Manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, palladium, silver, cadmium and lead complexes of four different compositions have been isolated. Characterization of the complexes by i.r., visible and u.v. spectra, conductance and magnetic data has been carried out. This bidentate ligand co-ordinates through the secondary nitrogen atoms. The structure of the complexes are discussed.

1-allyl 3-(2-pyridyl) 2-thiourea and its metal complexes

A. Dutta Ahmed; Pradyut Kumar Mandal

Abstract A study of 1-allyl 3-(2-pyridyl) 2-thiourea as complexing ligand and its Co(II), Ni, Cu(I), Zn, Pd(II), Cd, Hg(II) and Bi complexes is described. CdCl2 and BiCl3 form the compounds CdLCl2 and BiL2Cl3 respectively. The perchlorate complexes of Co and Ni have the formula ML3(ClO4)2 and the remaining complexes can be represented as ML2X2 where X = Cl−, Br−, I−, or NO3−. Ultra-violet visible and i.r. spectra of the ligand and metal complexes, and the magnetic properties and conductivity of the latter are discussed.

N-thiocarbamoyl-N′-carbamoyl hydrazine derivatives and their metal complexes

A. Dutta Ahmed; Pradyut Kumar Mandal

Abstract A study of N-thiocarbamoyl-N′-carbamoyl hydrazine derivatives as complexing ligands and their Ni, Cu, Zn and Cd complexes is described. The metals form 1:1 chelates with the ligands. One compound with formula Cu(I) (C3H5·NH·CS·NH·NH·CO·NH2)2Cl is also described. Ultraviolet and i.r. spectra of the ligands and the metal complexes and the magnetic properties of the latter are discussed. Structures for the metal complexes are proposed.

N.thiocarbamoyl N′.carbamoyl hydrazine and its derivatives and their metal complexes II☆

A. Dutta Ahmed; Pradyut Kumar Mandal

Abstract A study of the ligand N.thiocarbamoyl N′.carbamoyl hydrazine and its Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pd complexes is described, besides Pd complexes of three similar ligands described previously. Ultra-violet, visible and i.r. spectra of the ligand and complexes, and the magnetic properties of the latter are discussed.

N. Thiocarbamoyi N′. Phenylguanyl hydrazine and its metal complexes☆

A. Dutta Ahmed; Pradyut Kumar Mandal

Abstract A study of N.thiocarbamoyl N′.phenylguanyl hydrazine as complexing ligand and its Ni, Cu(II), Zn, Cd, Pd(II) and Bi complexes is described. The ligand is dibasic in complexes of Cu, Pd and Bi. In other cases the ligand is monobasic but does not form 1:2 complexes. In the latter case, bonding of nickel complex is different from the rest. Ultraviolet, visible and i.r. spectra of the ligand and the metal complexes, and magnetic and conductance properties of the latter are discussed.

Status of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay test for tuberculosis serology in low socio economic status and undernourished children with suspected pulmonary tuberculosis -

Tuberculosis (TB) is prevalent all over the world especially in under-developed countries. World Health Organization (WHO) had declared TB as a ‘global TB emergency’ in the year 1993. Paediatric TB remains a public health emergency. This is particularly evident in developing countries with poor public health infrastructure. 1 Despite longstanding efforts to conquer TB, it continues to be a major health problem in developing countries like India. The mainstay for its control is the rapid and accurate identification of infected individuals. The simplest, low cost and rapid method is the detection of acid-fast bacilli by microscopy. However, 40 to 60% of patients with pulmonary disease and 75% of patients with extra-pulmonary disease are ABSTRACT
