SUPERAÇÃO DE DORMÊNCIA DE Stryphnodendron adstringens (MART.) COVILLE

Stryphnodendron adstringens (Mart.) Coville is a species with seeds that manifest dormancy, which is a survival tactic for unfavorable environmental conditions in the Cerrado in season fruiting and dispersal of its seeds, such characteristic is an obstacle when it is intends when producing seedlings, because causes delay and unevenness in germination. The present work had the purpose of evaluating the germination of seeds of Stryphnodendron adstringens (Mart.) Coville with different treatments of dormancy overcoming. The work was divided in three treatments: seed emerged in hot water at 45 oC for 5 minutes; (AA) in water at room temperature 25 °C for 24 hours and (T) witness without treatment. The test was conducted for a period of 30 days of daily evaluations. The percentage of emergence in the treatment of dormancy exceedance with water at room temperature of 25 oC (AA) was the best among the treatments tested while the immersion treatment in hot water at 45 oC for 5 minutes the percentage of germination was low with a rate of 29% of germinated seeds. It is concluded that seeds of the species Stryphnodendron adstringens (Mart.) Coville respond differently to both treatments in overcoming dormancy, thus, between the two methods evaluated, the method with hot water at 45 oC has been shown to be efficient in speed index of emergency, already the germination porcentage it was verified that the immersion method in water was significant with room temperature at 25 oC.
