Raw Material as a Resource Implying Effectiveness of Product Innovations: Attempt to Assess the Selected Implementation

Bogdan Nogalski; Przemysław Niewiadomski

The experience supported by the analysis of balance sheets and statements shows that the implementation of the effective product portfolio management programme significantly affects the company’s financial effects. Therefore, the research was initiated, and its main objective is an attempt to answer the following question: is there a relationship between a type of the raw material used in the production process of spare parts for agricultural machinery, and—resulting from their implementation—effectiveness? The information obtained as a result of the research implementation—according to the authors’ beliefs—will allow to determine, in which of individual product categories the manufacturer should look for implementation opportunities that constitute product innovations. By carrying out the research, a conceptual thesis model was adopted, namely: The product innovation effectiveness is a derivative of the raw material used in the production process of spare parts for agricultural machinery. In other words, it is possible to categorise products in the relationship between a raw material and implementation effectiveness.

THE ASSESSMENT OF IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LEAN STRATEGY WITHIN MANUFACTURING COMPANIES IN AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY SECTOR

Przemysław Niewiadomski; J. Oleśków-Szłapka

The main purpose of this article is to try to answer the question: How do Polish manufacturing companies operating in the agricultural machinery sector implement the lean management concept in practice? It has a fragmentary character and does not yet fully validate the concept of leaning but authors present research findings from selected Polish companies in the field of lean research. In order to achieve the main goal, it was necessary to achieve the intermediate targets. At the theoretical level - using the method of reconstruction and interpretation of the subject literature - issues related to the key areas of the lean concept were selected. At the design level, it was crucial to construct - in close relation with the sector under study - an evaluation form At this stage the reconstruction and interpretation of the literature of the subject was supported by practical experiences of the authors, participant observation and creative discussion among deliberately selected experts. From the point of view of the empirical intent of the authors was to determine to what extent the criteria are met by the company under investigation.

Bogdan Nogalski; Przemysław Niewiadomski

Th e main objective of the article is to develop a set of key areas – from the point of view of experts of manufacturing companies of the agricultural machinery sector – factors determining production unit fl exibility, and to determine the level at which – each of the mentioned ones – the manufacturers should implement and currently implement.

Interception of values as a result of the business model restructuring – case study

Bogdan Nogalski; Przemysław Niewiadomski

Summary The main objective of this paper is to present a case of value interception as a result of restructuring the business model of a manufacturing company that operates in the agricultural machinery sector. A company that focuses on core activities in the value chain and commissions the manufacturing of most components to specialised suppliers – as a result of restructuring – becomes an integrator that controls all parts of the supply chain; from obtaining a raw material, through its own production of a possibly large number of components, to the distribution of a finished composite product. The framework of the conducted research featured the identification of the relationships occurring between own production of components comprising a given product, and an alternative solution, i.e. possibility of acquiring them by way of co-operation. The authors assumed that a derivative of the value intercepted in the finished product implementation process is the number of components manufactured using own production resources.

Dynamic competences in the opinion of the machine sector experts – from management theory to practice

Bogdan Nogalski; Przemysław Niewiadomski; Agnieszka Szpitter

Summary Dynamic competence in the opinion of the machinery sector experts - from theory to management practice The main objective of this paper is an attempt to reply to the question: how is the concept of dynamic competence understood by representatives of the manufacturing companies operating in the Polish agricultural machinery sector? Within the theoretical and design measures, a method of reconstruction and interpretation of literature implying the discussion in a group of intentionally selected experts operating in the examined sector will be used; as a result of the creative discussion, the key designates of dynamic competence will be generated. At the empirical level, it was considered appropriate to determine the hierarchy of their importance. The task of deliberately selected respondents will be to make a choice as to which of the suggested dimensions of the dynamic competence best reflects the sense of this concept.

Trust as a factor activating implementation abilities – from theory to practice of a flexible company

Bogdan Nogalski; Przemysław Niewiadomski

Summary As a result of the wide recognition of the importance of trust as an element related to the cooperation in a variable and hardly predictable environment, the trust was appreciated by management sciences. Thanks to the trust, the organisation can react quickly to changes in a complex and turbulent environment, in which it is necessary to develop new - adequate to the needs - products. In the context of the above, the research was commenced, whose execution was the condition of an attempt to answer the question: is the number of the products implemented by the manufacturer a derivative of trust built between him/her and his/her recipients? In the context of such a question, the main objective of the paper is an attempt to illustrate trust - created by the manufacturer - as an attribute promoting his/her implementation flexibility. The achievement of such an objective is possible thanks to a detailed case analysis of the selected implementation process, which confirms that good relationships between partners - as a result of the increase in production series - may imply a decrease in its unit costs, which leads to significant profits in the long term.

Implementation competences as an attribute of executive employees of the flexible organisation – an attempt of their assessment among manufacturers of the agricultural machinery sector

Bogdan Nogalski; Przemysław Niewiadomski

Summary Based on theoretical knowledge, own professional experience and conducted research, according to the authors, the paper’s objective is to develop and empirically verify the theoretical model of implementation competences of the executive employees of manufacturing companies of the agricultural machinery sector. The main objective achievement required to formulate and reach partial objectives, which include: a) discussion and organisation of terminological issues in terms of understanding the term of implementation competences, b) development of a general model of the executive employees’ implementation competences, which is a sign of knowledge, skills, personality features, attitudes and values, c) empirical verification of the theoretical model; prioritisation of individual implementation competences in the assessment of executive employees or owners of selected companies and determination of competence weaknesses, which are characteristic of the executive personnel of these companies.

FLEXIBILITY AS A MANIFESTATION OF AN ORGANIZATION’S POSITIVE POTENTIAL BASED ON KNOWLEDGE

Bogdan Nogalski; Przemysław Niewiadomski

The overall objective of the paper is to present, in terms of theoretical, cognitive and practical aspects, the issues related to positive potential of a manufacturing organization. In the context of such an adopted target, the authors considered it justified to analyse the subject literature, including conducting the definitional systematisation in the area of the positive potential of the organization (PPO). On the basis of which, the authors present their own definition of what was intentional for the implementation of the rest of scientific inquiry. Subsequently, a tool was prepared that as intended by the authors impacts the creation of innovative potential of a manufacturing organization and the product flexibility related to it. The assessment of the innovation potential (which is also shown in this publication), by implementing of the developed tool in the selected enterprise, allowed to depict the translation of an organization innovation potential into its product flexibility.
