Creating Structural Analysis Model from IFC-Based Structural Model

Xuan Wang; Zai Peng Cui; Qi Lin Zhang; Hui Zhu Yang

In recent years, with the rapid development of the complex building structures, the lack of collaborative work platform for the information exchange between different disciplines results in the phenomenon of information gap and information isolated island. Realizing such a demand, a software was developed for supporting information transformation from IFC-format data model to structural model. In this paper, A case study was implemented to illustrate the method of structural model transformation, The results show that the software can extract the information of IFC structural model and form a corresponding structural model.

Development of Structural Health Monitoring Software System of Shanghai Center Tower

Zhi Hao Zhou; Qi Lin Zhang; Hui Zhu Yang; Lu Chen

Shanghai Center Tower is the tallest skyscraper under construction in China with the height of 642 meters. In order to reflect the real structural status of Shanghai Center Tower during the construction period and running period in three dimensional graphics, a Structural Health Monitoring Software System (SHMSS) is developed. The CAE software system consists of three function modules such as Modeling module, Data Management module, Post-Processing module. The Modeling module could build a 3D model confirming to the real Shanghai Center Tower based on the Building Information Modeling (BIM) concept; the Data Management module could access the engineering data produced by the sensors; then in the Post -Processing module, various data about the Shanghai Center Tower could be processed and structural parameters such as member force, displacement, wind pressure would be displayed in the 3D model.

Numerical Simulation of Wind Pressure Distribution on Structure Roofs with Suspension Solar Panels

Ying Zhou; Qi Lin Zhang

This paper presents the results of full-scale numerical wind tunnel tests of wind pressure on structure roofs with suspension solar panels. Solar roof project is popularized in this century. Solar panels are suspended above the structure roof. So the wind load effect on the structure roof is varied. The wind tunnel experiments are often expensive. A 3D model is introduced and solved using ADINA. The wind pressure distribution coefficients are calculated.

Development of CAD/CAE Software System for Raw-Soil Structure

Zhi Hao Zhou; Jia Hu; Qi Lin Zhang

With the good ecological functions, the raw-soil structures attract attention of the people all over the world recently. According to surveys, more than 30 million farmers in China still choose to build their house using raw-soil. Since the advent of CAD/CAE techology, it became easier for engineers to design better buildings. However, for lack of adequate research on raw-soil structure, existing domestic and oversea softwares are incapable of solving the detailing work of this structure. In this paper, characteristics of the raw-soil structure and software function requirements are analyzed; the framework, data structure kernel are designed for a specialized detailing CAD information system based on BIM (Bulidgin Information Modeling). Finally the raw-soil software is developed with Object ARX technology and AutoCAD graphics platform, and an example is introduced to show the main functions.

The Visco-Elastic Behaviors of PVC Coated Fabrics under Different Stress and Temperatures

Ying Ying Zhang; Qi Lin Zhang; Chuan Zhi Zhou

The visco-elastic behaviors of coated fabrics are important for the design of membrane structure. In this paper, Ferrari 1002 is taken as the research object. The tests of creep and stress relaxation are carried out under five temperatures (23, 40, 50, 60, and 70 ) and three initial stresses (4, 15, and 26 kN/m), respectively. Results show that temperature and initial stress has great effects on the visco-elasticity of coated fabrics. With temperature and initial stress increasing, the visco-elastic behaviors are more obvious. The creep strain can be ignored compared with the corresponding elastic strain. After 24h, the remaining stress is less than 80% the initial stress. This paper can be references for the design of membrane structure.

Experimental Study on Mechanical Behavior of Laminated Glass’s PVB Film

Zhi Xiong Tao; Qi Lin Zhang; Jun Chen; Bu Ying Xie

The interface bond between steel fibers and concrete matrix is the key of carrying capacity of steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC). In marine tidal fluctuation zone and splashed area, steel fibers will be rusty, and the bending toughness of SFRC was weakened. In this study, we tried to improve corrosion resistance of steel fiber and the interface bond strength by depositing zinc phosphate coating on steel fiber. These zinc phosphate steel fiber reinforced concrete(ZSFRC) have higher anti-corrosion ability. After corrosion they still have higher bending toughness than common SFRC.

Development of CAD/CAM Software System for Large Non-Regular Steel Constructions

Hui Zhu Yang; Zhi Guo Chang; Zong Lin Yang; Qi Lin Zhang

Sun-valley of Expo-axis is irregular large-span steel structure building. For the complicacy and specialty of tubular joint conformation, existing domestic and oversea professional software are incapable of solving the detailing work of this structure. Characteristics, difficulties and function requirements of the engineering are analyzed; the framework, data structure kernel and implement algorithm of important functions are designed for a specialized integrated detailing/manufacture CAD/CAM information system. This software comprises the functions from 3D solid modeling to automatic output of shop drawing and NC data, and it has been successfully applied to the actual construction work of sun-valley project.

Out-of-Plane Stability Analysis of Plane Tubular Trusses

Zheng Hua Huang; Qi Lin Zhang

To carry out of out-of-plane stability analysis of plane tubular trusses, nonlinear finite elements model based on spatial beam elements and simplified connection elements is deduced. To verifying the feasibility of the simplified joints stiffness model, numerical examples are build and results shows that the simplified finite elements model is comparatively accurate , and could be used in engineering design.

Hai Zhou Chen; Yu Ling Wang; Xiao Yong Zhang; Gang Kui Xie; Rong Quan Ma; Qi Lin Zhang

The flexible overall hoisting technique is put forward for the construction of the 30000m2 COMAC roof which is made of solder ball grid structure. The numerical simulation is carried out and the effect of unequal lifting on structural behaviors is analyzed. Numerical analysis and engineering practicing show that the overall flexible hoisting technique is with sufficient safety and obvious advantage in economy.

Analysis on the Method of Length Calculating for Flexible Hoisting Extra Large Solder Ball Grid Roof

It is critical to study how to properly measure the four ropes length of each lifting point. Language tools use in AUTOCAD AUTOLISP appropriate programming has been an efficient tool to correctly output the length of the rope. This method can provide some experiences to the construction and fabrication of the steel member of the project.
