Cloud computing and E-learning are the inevitable trend of computational science in general, and information systems and technologies in specific. However, there are not many studies on the adoption of cloud-based E-learning systems. Moreover, while there are many papers on information system adoption as well as customer innovativeness, the innovativeness and adoption in the same model seems to be rare in the literature. The study combines the extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) and consumer innovativeness on the adoption of E-learning systems based on cloud computing. A survey was conducted among 282 cloud-based E-learning participants and analyzed by structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings indicate that the adoption of cloud-based E-learning is influenced by performance expectancy, social influence, hedonic motivation, and habit. Interestingly, although innovativeness is not significant to use intention, it has a positive effect on E-learning usage which is relatively new in Vietnam.

Software engineering process (SEP) is more and more considered the key factor for any software company to create a better quality software with low costs and high productivity. However, there is a gap between theory and practice of applying modern SEP, such as Agile method, for improving the efficiency of software project management, especially for software companies in a developing country like Vietnam. VNG Corporation, a software company in Vietnam with a lot of small and medium web based software projects, currently meets many difficulties in ensuring the success of these projects. The current approach for software development is no longer consistent with the increasing requirements and flexibilities of these projects and VNG is going to find a new method for improving the efficiency of their software projects. In this research, Agile method is applied and tested to check whether it can be a suitable method for VNG to overcome their problems in software development. Besides, a testing project based on Agile method is also conducted at VNG company to evaluate the solution. Results showed that Agile method can help to increase customers’ satisfaction and it also helps to improve efficiency of project management by most KPIs.

The previous approaches for KM focused on either of two main strategies: Codification or Personalization (which focused on explicit or tacit knowledge, respectively). Those approaches lead to serious problems, such as: difficulty for integration, inconvenience in knowledge accessibility, limitation of participation, disjunction of knowledge... The approach for solving those problems of this paper is to set up a new integrated platform for combining both strategies. That platform is based on web 2.0, a set of advanced technologies and a new approach to knowledge management. Using web 2.0 for knowledge management, both kinds of knowledge can be supported at the same time and knowledge creating cycle is also facilitated. In this paper, a KMS based on web 2.0 is specified and a demo system is implemented for testing this solution, which shows many advantages in comparison with previous KMS.

Although the application of business intelligence (BI) system has increased recently, the critical success factors (CSFs) of BI system implementation remain poorly understood. Therefore, understanding CSFs for BI system is necessary for a company to be successful in implementing a BI system. Currently, the number of business successfully implemented BI in Vietnam is still limited. In order to understand the current situation of BI implementation in Vietnam, case study method has been used. Based on the research framework developed by Yeoh & Koronios, in-depth interviews have been conducted with 4 Vietnamese companies, who already implemented BI system. The main result of this study helps to extract the lessons learnt from 4 cases to rank the importance of CSFs for BI implementation in Vietnam context. Based on this result, recommendations were made for increasing the probability of successfully implementing BI system in Vietnam and other countries with similar conditions.

Nowadays, Social Networking Sites (SNSs) have attracted billions of users all around the world. In Vietnam, SNSs become more and more familiar with Vietnamese people and Facebook is the most popular SNS. Social Capital is an important term in the study and social behavior, an important sector in the major universities of the world. However, Social Capital is still very vague concept, not only for citizens but also for policy makers in Vietnam. There are a few of studies have examined the impact of SNSs to Social Capital and Knowledge Sharing through word of mouth in environment of SNSs (e-WOM) in Vietnam. Based on previous research model, this research examines whether the intensity of using SNSs has a positive impact on users’ Social Capital, Knowledge Sharing and e-WOM. A survey was conducted with Facebook users in Vietnam. The regression analysis was utilized to examine the nine main hypotheses through a questionnaire designed which is based on the Likert five-point scale. The results show that the intensity of using SNSs raise the Trust and Identification dimension of Social Capital, especially the Trust, and these dimensions have positive effects to e-WOM Quality on SNSs. It also finds out that the e-WOM Quality impacts positively on Knowledge Sharing through SNSs environment in the context of Vietnam.

Knowledge management (KM) is a discipline that improves the ability of companies in solving problem, adapt with changing in business, also helping them to gain and sustain their competitive advantages. This study is carried out with the objective to identify the measurement scale of KM practices, and to explore the impact of KM practice on the performance of small and medium enterprises in Vietnam. The data collection was analyzed by SPSS software with the sample size of 103. The participants are directors, managers and employees of Vietnamese SMEs. Analysis results showed that 3 main KM practices have positive impact on business success, including: Culture (0.321), Policy (0.099), and Knowledge acquisition (0.033), but the impact of Training on business success is not confirmed. The result also showed that there is a difference in understanding and applying KM across three categories of firm size: medium, small and very small enterprises. Some managerial implications have been suggested for managers of Vietnamese SMEs to enhance their performance based on KM approach in the future.

Purpose – Artificial neural network (ANN) is considered a good solution for building non-linear relationship between input and output parameters, which is suitable for solving production back allocation, which is the most important step for production planning of petroleum mine. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a solution for solving production back allocation problem at Samarang petrol mine based on ANN approach. Design/methodology/approach – In this study, well operational parameters’ surveillance was conducted and ANN was used to build relationships between operation parameters and production rates. Experimental method is used for testing and evaluating the possibility of using ANN for supporting production planning at Samarang mine. Findings – Consequently, the proposed ANN solution can increase the accuracy of predicted values and could be used for supporting production planning at Samarang mine. Because ANN uses well test data for training and predicting (without adding new devices), it could...

Today, knowledge is considered the only source for creating the competitive advantages of modern organizations. However, managing intellectual capital is challenged, especially for SMEs in developing countries like Vietnam. In order to help SMEs to build KMS and to stimulate their intellectual capital, a suitable technical platform for collaboration is needed. Wiki is a cheap technology for improving both intellectual capital and effectiveness of project management. However, there is a lack of proof about real benefit of applying wiki in Vietnamese SMEs. Cideco Company, a Vietnamese SME in construction design & consulting industry, is finding a solution to manage its intellectual capital for improving the effectiveness of project management. In this research, wiki is applied and tested to check whether it can be a suitable technology for Cideco to stimulate its intellectual capital and to improve the effectiveness of project management activities. Besides, a demo wiki is also implemented for 2 pilot projects to evaluate its real benefit. Analysis results showed that wiki can help to increase both intellectual capital and effectiveness of project management at Cideco.
