WORK FUNCTION OF A GOLD FILM MEASURED DURING THE NUCLEATION OF A SILVER OVERLAYER

A rotating dynamic capacitor is used to measure the contact potential difference between a gold reference electrode and λ gold film during the nucleation of a silver overlayer. An interpretation of the resulting graphs is given and the curves are fitted to an exponential relationship between the mean overlayer thickness and the percentage area covered. These results are compared with results for a gold overlayer on silver film.

Spread Spectrum Receiver Design for a Multipath Environment

This paper proposes novel designs for the implementation of a spread spectrum communication system which can operate in a severe multipath environment. There are two main sections to the receiver, firstly the correlator described is a hybrid of the two architectures commonly used, and secondly a channel matched filter is used to combat the effect of the fading multipaths. The correlator was constructed using a DSP system, while the performace of the channel matched filter is obtained using a simulated urban channel which includes a fast Doppler component and noise. The bit error rate performance of the system is presented.
