THE "3-BODY" PROBLEM ANALOGY IN MASS-TRAPPING PROGRAMS

R. T. Cunningham

Every mass-trapping program has to deal with decisions as to the pattern of allocation of the attractant in space and time. Is it better to have many traps each with a little lure or to have a few traps with a lot of evaporating surface and lure? If a trap geometry or formulation slows the evaporation rate, is this an advantage or disadvantage? How do we strike a balance to achieve the most efficient use? That is, how do we get the greatest kill per unit or lure used?
