Three-body calculations for the K − pp system within potential models

We present three-body nonrelativistic calculations within the framework of a potential model for the kaonic cluster K − pp using two methods: the method of hyperspherical harmonics in the momentum representation and the method of Faddeev equations in configuration space. To perform numerical calculations, different NN and antikaon–nucleon interactions are applied. The results of the calculations for the ground-state energy for the K − pp system obtained by both methods are in reasonable agreement. Although the ground-state energy is not sensitive to the pp interaction, it shows very strong dependence on the K − p potential. We show that the dominant clustering of the system in the configuration Λ (1405) + p allows us to calculate the binding energy to good accuracy within a simple cluster approach for the differential Faddeev equations. The theoretical discrepancies in the binding energy and width for the K − pp system related to the different pp and K − p interactions are addressed.

Monochromatic infrared wave propagation in 2D superconductor-dielectric photonic crystal

Oleg L. Berman; Vladimir S. Boyko; R. Ya. Kezerashvili; Yu. E. Lozovik

Anomalous infrared monochromatic transmission through superconducting cylinders embedded in a dielectric and dielectric cylinders embedded in a superconductor is found. The transmitted frequency corresponds to the localized photonic mode in the forbidden photonic band. This localized mode appears when the symmetry of the photonic crystal is broken by a defect. This defect can be formed when supercon-ducting cylinder is removed from the node of the ideal two-dimensional lattice of superconducting cylinders in dielectric medium or one dielectric cylinder placed out of the node of the lattice of the dielectric cylinders in superconducting medium. The corresponding frequency was calculated for the YBa2Cu3O7 − δ supercon-ducting cylinders in vacuum.

Absolute cross sections for charge exchange, ionization, stripping, and excitation in K + -He collisions were measured in the ion energy range 0.7–10 keV. The experimental data and the schematic correlation diagrams are used to analyze and determine the mechanisms for these processes. The increase of the excitation probability of inelastic channels with the angle of scattering is revealed. An exceptionally highly excited state of He is observed and a peculiarity for the excitation function of the resonance line is explained. The intensity ratio for the excitation of the KI Iλ = 60. 1n m andλ = 61.2 nm lines is 5:1, which indicates the high probability for excitation of the singlet resonance level 1 P1 compared to the triplet level 3 P1. The similarity of the population of the 4p state of the potassium ion and atom as well as the anomalously small values of the excitation cross sections are explained.

Trions in bulk and monolayer materials: Faddeev equations and hyperspherical harmonics

Igor Filikhin; R. Ya. Kezerashvili; Sh. M. Tsiklauri; B. Vlahovic

The negatively T - and positively T + charged trions in bulk and monolayer semiconductors are studied in the effective mass approximation within the framework of a potential model. The binding energies of trions in various semiconductors are calculated by employing the Faddeev equation with the Coulomb potential in 3D configuration space. Results of calculations of the binding energies for T - are consistent with previous computational studies, while the T + is unbound for all considered cases. The binding energies of trions in monolayer semiconductors are calculated using the method of hyperspherical harmonics by employing the Keldysh potential. It is shown that 2D T - and T + trions are bound and the binding energy of the positive trion is always greater than for the negative trion due to the heavier effective mass of holes. Our calculations demonstrate that screening effects play an important role in the formation of bound states of trions in 2D semiconductors.
