This work presents an FE study concerning the prediction of the shear resistance of headed stud connectors in composite beams with profiled steel sheeting subjected to static load. To confirm the FE simulation for the determination of the shear resistance of stud connectors, many experimental push-out tests whose results are available in the literature were used as a database. The FE simulations took into account the influence of many physical and mechanical parameters that affect the shear resistance of the stud connectors and such parameters are reported in the course of this paper. The prediction of the shear resistance of such studs is also calculated from currently used Standards, such as: AISC-LRFD and Eurocode-4. This research proposes new formulations for the prediction of the shear resistance and the results show that the proposed formulations significantly improve the prediction of the shear resistance of headed stud connectors subjected to static load.

A summary is presented with the main historical background in the analysis of the composite slabs with steel sheets subjected to flexion, as well as of the main methods of design, instrumentation and tests accepted by different International Standards. They fundamental parameters that influence the structural behaviour of the composite slabs are analyzed, and with a numeric study an analytical optimization method of the embossments system, is proposed and implemented in a spread sheet is possible to estimate the shear resistance of open web sheets and by comparing them, is possible to determine the better embossments system to include in a open web sheet with such method. Applying the proposed method a technologically possible embossments system can be obtained with a minimum cost for an industrial line of open web sheets.

Using finite elements method a numerically pull out test is reproduced that usually is performed in composite slabs with steel deck to estimate slip resistance due to longitudinal shear forces between steel deck and concrete block surfaces. Has been assumed an elastic- plastic model to represent steel behavior, and a plastic damage model for concrete. Bases have been establish to perform a parametric study of the problem, an to develop analytic method to calculate longitudinal shear.
