Discrete wavelet transform-based color image watermarking using uncorrelated color space and artificial bee colony

Manish Gupta; Girish Parmar; Rajeev Gupta; Mukesh Saraswat

AbstractThe exponential growth in electronic data over internet have increased the demand of a robust and high quality watermarking method for authentication and copyright protection. In general, the existing digital image watermarking methods embed the binary or gray scale watermark into the host image although most multimedia images are available in color. Moreover, available digital image watermarking methods generally use the correlated color spaces which impose the limitations to researchers for using only one color component at a time for embedding the watermark. Therefore, in this paper, a novel discrete wavelet transform (DWT) based color image watermarking method has been proposed which embeds the color watermark into host image using uncorrelated color space (UCS) and artificial bee colony (ABC) method. The results show that proposed method outperforms other existing methods against the various signal processing attacks.

The proposed method is a first inline report which uses uncorrelated color space for digital image watermarking.

Novel DVCCs based voltage-mode first-order all-pass sections

Vijay Kumar Dixit; Rajeev Gupta; Kirat Pal

In this paper two new high input-impedance voltage-mode first order all-pass filters are proposed. The first proposed circuit uses two DVCCs as the active elements, one floating capacitor and one grounded resistor as the passive elements. Due to grounded resistor the phase of the filter is electronically tunable. The second circuit requires two DVCCs as the active elements, one floating resistor and one grounded capacitor as passive elements. The utility and validity of the proposed circuits for analog signal processing applications are verified through PSPICE simulations using MOSIS 0.18μm CMOS technology process parameters.

Digital image watermarking using steerable pyramid transform and uncorrelated color space

Manish Gupta; Rajeev Gupta; Girish Parmar; Mukesh Saraswat

A robust and high quality image watermarking method has high demand for protection of copyrighted multimedia data over internet. The existing image watermarking methods generally exploit the correlated color models due to which only one color component at a time can be used for embedding the watermark. Therefore, in this paper, a novel steerable pyramid transform (SPT) based digital image watermarking method has been proposed which embeds the gray scale watermark into color host image using uncorrelated color space (UCS) and genetic algorithm (GA) method. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms other existing methods against the various signal processing attacks.

Controller parameter optimization using hybrid BFOA-PSO algorithm

Sapna Gupta; Rajeev Gupta

In hybrid bacteria foraging optimization-particle swarm optimization (BFO-PSO) algorithm, the principle of swarming is introduced in to BFO which eventually provides a superior result than rest of the optimization techniques. In this paper the effectiveness of BFO-PSO algorithm is tested for tuning PID controller parameters. The PID controller is used to control the outlet temperature of heat exchanger system.

Audio Watermarking Based on Amplitude Variation to Enhance Imperceptibility and Robustness of an Audio Signal

Mahendra Kumar Pandey; Girish Parmar; Rajeev Gupta

In recent years, proliferation of digital multimedia including images, audio, video and documents become popular due to on line distribution of digital multimedia. In such an open environment, it is convenient to get the access to various information sources. This increases the possibility of large-scale unauthorized copying of digital data. These concerns over protecting copyright have triggered significant research to find ways to hide copyright messages and serial number into digital media. In this paper, to enhance imperceptibility and robustness of an audio signal, we propose a robust audio watermarking technique based on pseudo-random gray sequences that embed multi bits within an audio signal. Proposed audio watermarking algorithm aims to satisfy and maximize both imperceptibility and robustness of the watermark by embedding 1023 bits within a sample of an audio signal. Proposed technique relies on basic principle that on varying the amplitude of the host signal by a few percent produces inaudible variations resulting in a watermarked signal which sounds identical to the original host file. The imperceptibility and the robustness of watermarking based on amplitude variation of host signal according to PN gray sequence is tested using various attacks.

Performance Evaluation of Proposed Segmentation Framework with Existing Techniques for Noisy Iris Images

Rajeev Gupta; Ashok Kumar

different iris segmentation techniques continue to appear, there has been a lack of recognition accuracy of existing methods with noisy iris dataset. To handle iris images (captured on less constrained conditions) with some types of noise (iris obstructions and specular reflection), the authors shows the results of performance evaluation of their proposed iris segmentation technique over existing techniques. The performance of a proposed iris segmentation technique is evaluated based on the accuracy and time. To evaluate the performance, the authors use the most important points to compare their proposed technique with others, which is Equal Error Rate (EER). The system is implemented and tested using MATLAB Version 7.5.0.342 (R2007b) software. The environment where the experiments are performed in is Compaq PC, Core 2 Due Intel Pentium Processor (2.00 GHz), with 1GB RAM and Windows 7 operating system, a dataset of UBIRIS v1, UBIRIS v2 and CASIA-IrisV4 databases samples of iris data with different contrast quality.

Detection of distorted 2-D iris data using multi-layered counter propagation neural network

Swati Pandey; Rajeev Gupta

Iris recognition is highly stable, accurate and secure verification technology for biometric authentication. The main focus of this paper, obtain a good identification percentage based on human iris. Further the image is successfully recognized when some pixels are missing or image is distorted. In the paper, counter propagation neural network is used for iris recognition. The CPN is a combination of unsupervised and supervised learning. The recognition rate of the proposed network is 99.6 %. The experiments are performed on eleven datasets with 1215 images it gives 99.6 % accuracy. The Performance of the Counter propagation neural network is compared with the Daughmans method, Boles and Wildes traditional method. The network gives 5 and 6.84 percentage improvement over Daughman methods and 1.19 & 3.33 percentage improvement over Wildes methods for dataset A and dataset B respectively. The CPN method shows 4.22 & 6.89 percentage improvement over boles technique for two datasets respectively.

Improved congestion avoidance and resource allocation algorithm

Rashmi Baweja; Rajeev Gupta; N. K. Bhagat

In the present study a congestion avoidance algorithm is proposed for multi-users, transmitting simultaneously on a single link. The present algorithm is based on the additive increase and multiplicative decrease feedback law. Equilibrium is reached at which all users shared equally at steady state and utilizes the whole link capacity. The resource allocation involves constraint on shared capacity and generates desired output within limited time period. The capacity of link is fully utilized and shared among the users in the set ratio, using the resource allocation algorithm. It represents a very simple, effective and more robust method for distribution of link capacity.
