Railways’ Drivers / Loco-Pilots are the most important person in executing the huge task of transporting nearly 25 Million passengers and more than 2.8 Million Tons of freight daily with the help of 2,29,381 wagons, 59,713 coaches and more than 9,213 locomotive engines of various kinds(www.Indian railways, Wikipedia).To transport 25 million passengers and millions of tons of freight and that too with taking care of both the traveler‟s convenience and safety is not a mean task, the driver on whose sincerity the journey of a train depends. Indian railway drivers (loco-pilots) are working in an environment over which they have no control whatsoever and are an atmosphere that wrecks their schedules, disrupts their home life, makes social activities and regular breaks very hard to plan. This research study aim to assess the job demands and its various effect on health (for ex; sleeping troubles, burnout, stress, depressive symptoms and job satisfaction) faced by the Indian railway drivers (loco-pilots) using the COPSOQ (Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire). Moderating effects of personality trait (in this study it is self efficacy) between job demands and its various effect on health also find out. Sleeping troubles, burnout, stress, depressive symptoms and job satisfaction are projected as intended outcomes of job demand.

This study examines the relation between work-life balance and quality of life among auto rickshaw drivers in Mumbai. Author assessed the components of work-life balance on time balance (equal time devoted to work and family). The purpose of this survey study is to discuss the work-life balance among auto rickshaw drivers in Mumbai. The present study is a survey study and for the same data was collected through a predesigned questionnaire filled by the participants from a sample of 50 auto rickshaw drivers at Dadar railway station, Mumbai. Sample includes both married and unmarried auto rickshaw drivers over 20 years of age and presently driving auto rickshaw for more than one year. This study indicates those who spent more time on family than work (driving) experiences a higher quality of life than who spent more time on work (driving) than family.

Stress is a normal part of human life in the modern world. The effect of stress is a deviation from the existing physical and psychological damage of human life. Stress is unavoidable and can occur in all facets of life. Stress that is prolonged and managed poorly can result in negative physical, mental, and cognitive outcomes for humans. Other negative outcomes include anxiety, depression, weakened immune system, heart disease, obesity, and poor memory. The aim of this paper is to identify the level of stress among Loco-Pilots (railway drivers) in India. The work of railway drivers is considered as extremely stressful and this paper deals with factors that lead to stress and fatigue and thus to high probability of accident. The aim of this paper is to bring an extensive review of knowledge on stress, fatigue and working conditions regarding to job outcomes of railway drivers.
