Web services are the key technologies for the web applications developed using Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). Many outsourced web services can be combined to provide value added services to the users. There are many challenges involved in its implementations. One of the essential challenges is service discovery which involves finding a set of suitable web service candidates faster. When a large number of functionally-equivalent services have been discovered, it is difficult for users to choose which one is to be invoked. Researchers have proposed various techniques for service discovery like ranking the web services based on their Quality of Service (QoS). The various parameters of quality are reliability, security, performance, etc. This paper presents an algorithm for building a rule based model for ranking the web services based on quality of service (QoS) using fuzzy clustering and particle swarm optimization (PSO). In general, the numbers of rules are directly proportional to the number of quality attributes considered for ranking but PSO reduces the number of rules by removing the rules that are having less weight age and will not affect the system. This paper also proposes a new web service reference that behaves as an expert system. It contains a rule base and a reference engine. The rule base consists of all the rules and a reference engine that triggers all these rules and gives the rank of the service as an output.

Geospatial information we gather through different sensors and from the concepts of the geographic objects, is generally vague, imprecise and uncertain. Also, the imprecision becomes obvious due to the multi-granular structure of the multi-sensor satellite images and that leads to error accumulation at every stage in geo-processing.

Business agility is an important challenge while designing an enterprise application. Service oriented architecture is used to combine many outsourced web services to provide value added services to the users with agility. A service registry is maintained to keep track of various web service published by the service providers. The key challenge for the service requester is to pick the best web service among the various functionally equivalent web services in the service registry. This paper describes and analyses various service selection protocols given by the researchers. The approaches are classified into semantic and non-semantic approach. It also proposes a novel technique to look for the best web service based on QoS like reliability, throughput etc. The solution to the problem of selecting the best web service according to the requirements is designed as a fuzzy expert system. This rule based approach of Service registration and lookup is adaptive and responds dynamically to quality of service changes in the web services.

This paper focuses on building a rule based model for a water supplying network using particle swarm optimization and fuzzy clustering. There are various fundamental problems of water supply distribution networks namely distance, quantity, demand, elevation etc. Depending on these factors we get the water at receiving ends in terms of quantity, pressure etc. An algorithm is proposed to obtain desirable rule based model for the above problem using particle swarm optimization which can further help in simulation and deciding various factors of input so that required output can be obtained.

Service oriented architecture is a current and popular software engineering paradigm providing agile web services to consumers in a dynamically changing enterprise environment. The SOAP messages are used to establish communication between the web services which are vulnerable to rewriting attacks and insecure conversation. XML Signature as specified in WS-Security provides security to the contents of the SOAP messages but is insufficient. This paper proposes a SOAP model where rewriting attacks can be avoided and a secure conversation can be established as well. This paper recommends three steps, firstly using shared key for encrypting timestamp in the message body for generating corresponding signature; Secondly, using value referencing both for signature validation and message processing; and finally encrypting the whole SOAP body instead of sending an open SOAP Message in the network to prevent unauthorized access. The paper concludes that the proposed model successfully detects rewriting attacks and establishes secure conversation in the to-and-fro message transmission.

Exponential rise in the multilingual web content affects the present-day decision support system to a great extent. To normalize such web content is the need of an hour. Reliability of decision support system broadly depends on the flawless processing of the language data present over the web. Macaronic text is one of the text usually found over the web. It is basically the text that contains number of languages in a single document instead of uniform language for whole document. To cope up with such a text, in this paper we propose a macaronic parser. This parser is language-independent and task-independent. The output of the proposed system is the normalized uniform base language text. This output can further be used in many other language processing tasks.

Currently unified modelling language (UML) is widely used for the specification and modeling of software. Model driven approach uses unified modeling language as platform independent model and converts it into platform specific model by adopting different strategies in the form of stereotype and metadata. However non-uniformity in strategy makes UML based model driven architecture (MDA) a challanging job. Also very less number of platform specific code is generated when UML platform independent model (PIM) is converted to platform specific model (PSM). A tool is proposed for design and implementation which is using eXtensible markup language (XML) as PIM. XML provides uniformity in description of different components. It also provides interoperability which is otherwise not achieved. Code density and code gain significantly increase when XML PIM is converted to PSM. A case study demonstrates the applicability of this tool.

Service Discovery is an important element which requires finding a set of suitable webservice candidates faster for the service requester among those published by the service provider. Among large number of functionally-equivalent, it is difficult for users to choose a best service to be invoked. This paper proposes a new webservice reference platform which has service discovery element behaving as a fuzzy expert system. The proposed webservice reference model makes the service discovery element automatic .
