Lessons from LyricTime : a prototype multimedia system

Shoshana Loeb; Ralph D. Hill; Tom Brinck

The LyricTime TM system is a personalized music system that currently runs on SUN SPARCstation TM workstations . Songs are automatically selected for listeners by a filter that adapts to them according to feedback the y provide . The songs are played at a listeners workstation using its built-in audio capability . At the same time, a still image from the album cover for the song is presented on the display . The listener is free to stop and star t playing at any time, step forward and backward through the list of selected songs, change the volume, tell th e filter what mood he or she is in, and provide evaluative feedback on the current song .

Capturing and playing multimedia events with STREAMS (demonstration)

Gil Cruz; Ralph D. Hill

Process for regeneration of a solvent for preferentially absorbing acid gases. The solvent, which comprises between 5 and 55 percent by weight water, is steam stripped in a regenerator, and vapor leaving the regenerator with the acid gases is condensed. The resulting condensate is returned to the solvent downstream of the regeneration zone. The condensate may be partially or wholly recirculated to the upper part of the regenerator provided that the majority of it is withdrawn above the regeneration zone. Some of the condensate may be added back to the solvent at the bottom of the regenerator or in a reboiler associated with the regenerator.

Capturing and playing multimedia events with STREAMS (video)

Gil Cruz; Ralph D. Hill

A corrosion inhibited composition containing an aqueous gas conditioning solution such as an alkanolamine with small amounts of soluble trivalent bismuth compounds. The compositions are useful to separate acid gases such as carbon dioxide from feed streams in gas conditioning apparatus with minimum amounts of corrosion of the stainless steel.
