Featured researches published by Ramesh C. Munjal.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1979

Intermolecular additions of cyclobutylchlorocarbene

Robert A. Moss; Mary E. Fantina; Ramesh C. Munjal

Abstract Cyclobutylchlorocarbene can be intercepted by simple alkenes in successful competition with intramolecular ring expansion and hydride migration reactions.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1979

Differentiation of electrophilic and ambiphilic carbenes

Robert A. Moss; Ramesh C. Munjal

Abstract Comparative selectivities toward alkenes of CH3CCl, CCl2, and CH3OCCl establish the former two carbenes as electrophiles; the latter is an ambiphile.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1980

The tricyclopropylcyclopropenyl cation

Robert A. Moss; Ramesh C. Munjal

Abstract The preparation and properties of the tricyclopropylcyclopropenyl cation are described.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1984

The philicity of a triplet carbene: additions of diphenylcarbene to styrene substrates

Hideo Tomioka; Kumiko Ohno; Yasuji Izawa; Robert A. Moss; Ramesh C. Munjal

Abstract Triplet diphenylcarbene adds to ring-substituted styrenes as an ambiphile, reacting more rapidly with electron-rich or electron-poor styrenes than with styrene itself.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1980

Stereoselectivity of cyclopropylchlorocarbene

Robert A. Moss; Ramesh C. Munjal

Abstract Cyclopropylchlorocarbene adds to cis -butene (25°) with a 4.6:1 preference for the syn Cl— anti -cyclopropyl mode of addition, more than twice the stereoselectivity of phenylchlorocarbene in the analogous reaction.

Journal of The Chemical Society, Chemical Communications | 1978

Interception of alkylchlorocarbenes

Robert A. Moss; Ramesh C. Munjal

Ethylchloro-, isopropylchloro-, and t-butylchloro-carbenes have been generated by photolysis of the corresponding 3-alkyl-3-chlorodiazirines and added to several alkenes; the partition between intermolecular interception and intramolecular liquidation of the carbenes was mainly dependent on the structure of the carbenic alkyl groups.

Journal of the American Chemical Society | 1980

Absolute rate constants for additions of phenylchlorocarbene to alkenes

Nicholas J. Turro; Jared A. Butcher; Robert A. Moss; Wenjeng Guo; Ramesh C. Munjal; Michal Fedorynski

Journal of the American Chemical Society | 1986

Cyclopropyl/phenylcyclopropenyl cations: studies in stabilization

Robert A. Moss; Shilan Shen; Karsten Krogh-Jespersen; Joseph A. Potenza; Harvey J. Schugar; Ramesh C. Munjal

Journal of the American Chemical Society | 1979

Reactivity of cyclopropylchlorocarbene: an interactive experimental and theoretical analysis

Robert A. Moss; Margherita Vezza; Wenjeng Guo; Ramesh C. Munjal; K. N. Houk; Nelson G. Rondan

Synthesis | 1973
