The reaction of hexamethylphosphotriamide or methylphosphonic bis(dimethylamide) compounds with amidines derived from N-Benzimidazoyl imidates 1 leads to (1,2a)benzimidazolo-1,3,5,2-tiazaphosphorine-2-oxides 4 in good yields. If the condensation is realized at room temperature, N-phosphonic amidines 3 can be isolated as intermediates. The isolated compounds 2 , 3 , and 4 are identified by spectroscopic methods: IR, 1 H, 13 C, 31 P, NMR, and M.S.

Abstract N-(2-cyanophenyl)-imidates 1 react with hydrazine to give 3-amino-4-iminoquinazolines 2 . The condensation of 2 with hexamethylphosphorotriamide or methylphosphonic bis(dimethylamide) constitute an original route for the synthesis of [ [1] , [5] , [6] , [7] , [8] , [9] , [10] , [11] , [12] , [13] , [14] , [15] , [16] , 17]quinazolo-1,2,4,3-triazaphosphole-4-oxides 3 in good yields. The structure of these compounds is unambiguously confirmed by IR, 1 H, 13 C and 31 P NMR spectroscopy, by MS and elementary analysis for some products.

The reaction of ethyl chloroformate with iminoesters derived from 3-aminotriazole, followed by amine or phenyl hydrazine condensation, leads to a variety of 1,2,4-triazolo-1,3,5-triazin-4-ones in a 60–85% overall yield.

The imidates derived from 3-aminotriazole 1 react with isocyanates and isothiocyanates to give corresponding 1,2,4-triazolo-1,3,5-triazin-4-ones and 1,2,4-triazolo-1,3,5-triazin-4-thiones in a 60–75% overall yield. If the condensation is realized at r.t., then the intermediate 2 can be isolated.

Abstract The reaction of amidines 1 with hexamethylphosphoric triamide in refluxing toluene is described as a simple and efficient method for the synthesis of 1,3,2-diazaphosphorine-2-oxide derivatives 3. The structures of all the synthesized compounds have been established by NMR (1H, 13C, 31P) and IR spectroscopy, as well as by elemental analysis and in the case of 3d by MS spectral data. The condensation of the amino-iminoquinazolines 2, with tris(dimethylamino) phosphine, leads to corresponding [1,5-c]quinazolo-2,3-dihydro-1,2,4,3-triazaphospholes 3. Oxidation of compounds 3 with sulfur gives the quinazolo-triazaphosphole-sulfides 4. The structure of these compounds is unambiguously confirmed by IR, 1 H, 31 P, and 13 C NMR spectroscopy and by microanalysis of some of the products.

Abstract The reaction of trichlorophosphine oxide with [1,2-a]benzimidazol-2-yl amidine 1 derived from [1,2-a]benzimidazoyl imidate leads to benzimidazolo-1,3,5,2-triazaphosphorine-2-oxides 3 in good yields. If the condensation is performed at room temperature, N-phosphonic amidines 2 can be isolated as intermediates. Abstract N-(1-Carboethoxy-benzimidazol-2-yl) 1 reacted with different hydrazines to give [1,3,5]triazino[1,2a]benzimidazole derivatives 2. Treatment of compound 1 with tBuOK and EtONa yielded pyrimidino[1,2a]benzimidazole derivatives 3 in good yields.

Abstract The reaction of thionyl chloride with amidines 2, derived from N-benzimidazol-2-yl imidates 1, leads to [1,2,4,6]thiatriazino[2,3-a][1,3]benzimidazol-1(2H)-one 3 in good yields. [1,3,5]Thiadiazino[3,4-a][1,3]benzimidazol-2-imine 4 was prepared by condensation of NaSCN with benzimidazol-2-yl imidate 1. The isolated compounds 3 and 4 were identified by spectroscopic methods including IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR as well as elemental analyses and MS of 3d and 4b. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT
