The study aims to describe features of the organizational structure of post-partum care in the Family Health Strategy, based on requirements present in the national health policy relating to the infrastructure, personnel, care actions and management. The study is quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional, and was undertaken in 55 Family Health Strategy clinics in Cuiaba, Mato Grosso (MT), through interviews and descriptive statistical analysis. The majority of clinics meet the requirements of physical infrastructure and the offer of actions in the post-partum period. There are limitations in the offering of nursing consultations, group education, and oral contraception for use in the post-partum period. Material for the prevention of cervical cancer is not always available in the clinics; neither are doctors. The scheduling of post-partum consultations is not routine and data from the information system is not habitually used in planning this care. It is necessary to invest in improving the organizational structure for post-partum care to improve in quality. 1 Nurse. Objective: to evaluate the care provided at an Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum (AIP) unit at a teaching hospital following the inclusion of obstetric nurses. Method: transversal study, performed at a AIP unit at a teaching hospital in the capital of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso. The sample comprised data regarding the 701 childbirths that took place between 2014 and 2016. The data were organized using Excel and analyzed using version 7 of Epi Info software. Results: the results suggest that including obstetric nurses contributed towards qualifying the care provided during labor and childbirth, followed by a reduction in the number of interventions, such as episiotomy caesareans sections, and resulting in encouragement to employ practices that do not interfere in the physiology of the parturition process, which in turn generate good perinatal results. Conclusion: inserting these nurses collaborated towards humanizing obstetric and neonatal care. Objective: to evaluate the care provided at an Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum (AIP) unit at a teaching hospital following the inclusion of obstetric nurses. Objective: To distinguish women health needs in the postpartum and understand them under the sociocultural look genre. Methods: Qualitative research in two areas of the Health Strategy Cuiabá family, Mato Grosso, in the year 2012, with thirteen women through semi-structured interviews and content analysis. Results: The participants prioritize the needs to promote wellbeing and security to the child and to reconcile assumed housekeeping and daily rhythms. Put in the background emotional-social, affective-marital needs, relieving burdens on business, organic, among others, but wish, albeit in conflicting and contradictory way, recovering autonomy/freedom which had before maternity to take care of itself. Conclusions: Need the support of health services to recognize the experience and understanding the sociocultural aspects involved in their needs and ways to care for themselves incorporated. Objective: To distinguish women health needs in the postpartum and understand them under the sociocultural look genre. This research addresses men’s perceptions about their experiences and health needs in the post-birth period. The goal is to distinguish analytically and from a gender perspective the health needs related to the event, experienced, expressed and/or denied by men. This is an exploratory, descriptive and qualitative study carried out in two municipal health areas of Cuiaba, state of Mato Grosso, using a semi structured interview and thematic analysis of the data. The participants were eight men who were experiencing the post-birth period of a child. Above all, they expressed the need to provide financial security to the family, emphasizing also the need of their children’s well-being, with the affective return that this experience brings. They did not perceive themselves with health needs during the post-birth period. The support provided by local health services is important so that men can understand the experience of parenthood and its relationship with social and cultural aspects in order to distinguish their own needs, appreciate self-care, and adopt a gender equity perspective. This research addresses mens perceptions about their experiences and health needs in the post-birth period.
