Acquired Brown's syndrome secondary to Ahmed valve implant for neovascular glaucoma.

Clinical findings included anterior uveitis, episcleritis, raised intraocular pressure, macular oedema, pigment dispersion, and retinal detachment. Angiostrongylus cantonensis, a lung fluke of rodents, was first described by Chen in 1935 from the bronchial tree of Rattus norvegicus and R.rattus rattus, caught in Canton, China. It is a delicate filiform worm, and has a length of 16-25 mm and a maximum diameter of 0.260.36 mm; the female of the species is larger. The rodent is the definite host. It is thought that humans are infected by eating inadequately cooked intermediate hosts (slugs, snails, crabs), or vegetables contaminated by larvae. The most likely routes of entry into the orbit are between the optic nerve and sheath, through the cribriform plate, and into the anterior chamber through the limbus. It is difficult to know where our patient came into contact with the infected intermediate molluscum host. Although he is resident in the United Kingdom, he had recently visited South Africa. Medline search, however, revealed no previous reports of ocular Angiostrongyliasis from United Kingdom or South Africa.

Paralisia do VI nervo (abducente)

Neste trabalho foi realizada uma revisao da literatura com o objetivo de integrar e compilar artigos disponiveis sobre a paralisia do VI nervo (abducente) para rever suas caracteristicas clinicas, etiologias possiveis e os procedimentos clinicos, farmacologicos e cirurgicos para seu tratamento. Primeiramente, descreve-se sua acao, localizacao, trajeto e possiveis lesoes, depois seus principais fatores etiologicos para em seguida abordar-se o diagnostico e o tratamento. Proposta de transposicao de Carlson-Jampolsky isolada no tratamento cirurgico da paralisia do VI nervo e tambem apresentada.

Fratura de órbita por queda de cavalo e correção de estrabismo

Descreve-se uma paciente com fratura orbitaria grave causada por queda de cavalo. Relato do seu tratamento cirurgico com correcao do estrabismo e tentativa de correcao da enoftamia.

Paresia de IV nervo por diabete melito

Due to its rarety the author, present 2 cases of IV nerve palsy secondary to diabetes mellitus in young patients. Although cases of III and VI nerve palsy often recover to sponta-neously, our patients with IV nerve palsy developed secondary inferior oblique hyperaction, and were submitted to surgical procedure with good results.
