The authors examine the relationship between the life cycles of fathers and sons who work together, concluding that the quality of the work relationship varies as a function of their respective life stages. The intersection of their individual developmental paths can have positive or negative effects on the nature of the work relationship, on the resolution of such problem issues as succession, and on productivity.

Is the extent to which members of a group are aware of a specific members sociometric preference related to whether or not the recipient of the choice is aware of it? The present paper attempts to answer this question. A number of writers have discussed the problem of a persons awareness of being chosen or rejected by the other members of his group (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10). In these studies the problem is treated as if the choice or rejection behavior of each person had similar stimulus value. This is, of course, an assumption convenient only for a first approximation to the problem, for there may be considerable variation in the strength of preferences and dislikes stated under the same set of sociometric instructions. Furthermore, we do not all manifest our feelings in the same manner or with the same explicitness, nor do we express our feelings for different persons in the same way.
