1 Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing, Kingston University, Kingston5 Upon-Thames, KT1 2EE, UK; [email protected] 6 * Correspondence: [email protected]; Tel.: +44-[208]-417-2561 7 8 Abstract: There are no widely established models for postgraduate interprofessional (IPE) 9 events. Due to low number of healthcare professionals (HCPS) on the island of Guernsey, pharmacist 10 continuing professional development (CPD) events incorporate an IPE element making it a unique 11 CPD model. This study evaluates an event that took place in April 2015, to support identification of 12 positive attributes of the event as an IPE case study. From 33 attendees 29 [88%] evaluation forms 13 were returned covering an audience including pharmacists, doctors and nurses. Although the event 14 increased knowledge and understanding of the topic, there was a statistical difference when 15 comparing anticipated change in practice [p<.05], with over half [n=15, 51.7%] saying the learning 16 would not change their practice. No significant differences in responses were seen between different 17 professional groups. Attendees were positive about learning with other HCPs. The focus group 18 comprising 6 professionals identified a key theme of ‘factors affecting attendance at an IPE event’ 19 with four subthemes; IPE and networking, topic, convenience and CPD. All professions were open 20 to and saw the benefit of IPE. Face-to-face events were preferred, facilitated by an expert speaker, 21 with a topic that has relevance to multi-professions. Post qualification IPE events allow a 22 synchronised view of a topic and should be encouraged in the future. 23

The Healthy Living Pharmacy framework, introduced in England in 2008, provides a tailored approach to the implementation of pharmacy services locally, facilitated by qualified ‘Health Champions’ (HCs). The study aimed to evaluate the perceived value of the 1‐day level 2 HC training by assessing knowledge and confidence of HC pre‐ and post‐training, and changes in practice. The views of additional stakeholders on factors that either obstructed or facilitated pharmacy engagement are also explored.

Pharmacy professionals have multiple opportunities to attend learning events run by a series of providers. However, there has never been a large‐scale evaluation of events. Currently, formats of learning sessions differ by provider with no optimum model identified. Pharmacy Education South London was formed in April 2014 for the provision of education and training for pharmacy professionals in South London, running sessions multiple times across various locations.
