We present Corona, a deterministic self-stabilizing algorithm for skip list construction in structured overlay networks. Corona operates in the low-atomicity message-passing asynchronous system model. Corona requires constant process memory space for its operation and, therefore, scales well. We prove the general necessary conditions limiting the initial states from which a self-stabilizing structured overlay network in a message-passing system can be constructed. The conditions require that initial state information has to form a weakly connected graph and it should only contain identifiers that are present in the system. We formally describe Corona and rigorously prove that it stabilizes from an arbitrary initial state subject to the necessary conditions. We extend Corona to construct a skip graph.

A Midimew-connected Mesh Network (MMN) is a minimal distance mesh with wrap-around links network of multiple basic modules (BMs), in which the BMs are 2D-mesh networks that are hierarchically interconnected for higher-level networks. In this paper, we present the architecture of the MMN, addressing of node, routing of message, and evaluate the static network performance of MMN, TESH, mesh and torus networks. In addition, we propose the network-on-chip (NoC) implementation of MMN. With innovative combination of diagonal and hierarchical structure, the MMN possesses several attractive features, including constant degree, small diameter, low cost, small average distance, moderate bisection width and high fault tolerant performance than that of other conventional and hierarchical interconnection networks. The simple architecture of MMN is also highly suitable for NoC implementation. To implement all the links of level-3 MMN, only four layers are needed which is feasible with current and future VLSI technologies.

We study distributed linearization or topological sorting in peer-to-peer networks. We define strict and eventual variants of the problem. We consider these problems restricted to existing peer identifiers or without this restriction. None of these variants are solvable in the asynchronous message-passing system model. We define a collection of oracles and prove which oracle combination is necessary to enable a solution for each variant of the linearization problem. We then present a linearization algorithm. We prove that this algorithm and a specific combination of the oracles solves each stated variant of the linearization problem.

Minimal DIstance MEsh with Wrap-around links (Midimew) connected Mesh Network (MMN) is a hierarchical interconnection network consists of several Basic Modules (BM), where the BM is a 2D-mesh network and the higher level network is a midimew network. In this paper, we present the architecture of MMN and evaluate the number of long wires, length of a long wire, and the total length for the long wire of MMN, TESH, and torus networks. It is shown that the proposed MMN possesses simple structure and moderate wire length. The long wire length of MMN is slightly higher than TESH network and far lower than that of 2D torus network. Overall performance suggests that, MMN is a good choice for future generation massively parallel computers.

The impact of medication adherence is proven to affect hospitalization risk and healthcare cost. In Malaysia, failure in taking medication as prescribed is a complicated and common problem. There are many reasons people fail to take their medication as prescribed. Some of the few common issues are remembering to consume their medicine timely, doubts in medication effectiveness, concerns on side effects or having difficulty in taking the medication (especially with injections or inhalers) and rising cost of prescribed medications. Tracking patient medication intake leads to many advantages, one of which is lower medication due to adherence, health-care cost which effects insurance coverage premiums. In this paper, we develop an application to track medication using a smart phone and the use of QR code. Each medication transaction requires a proof of work to signify that the user have taken their medication at the correct date and time. A QR-Code reader will be used to capture medication taken printed on medication labels and each scan is considered as a proof of work. Our contribution is to create a mobile application that can help track medication intake, as well as remind, inform and warn users about the medication that they are taking.

Hierarchical Interconnection Network (HIN) is indispensable for the practical implementation of future generation massively parallel computer systems which consists of hundred thousands nodes or even millions of nodes. Because it yields good performance with low cost due to reduction of communication links and by exploring the locality in the communication & traffic patterns. A Midimew connected Mesh Network (MMN) is an HIN comprised of numerous basic modules, where the basic modules are 2D-mesh networks and they are hierarchically interconnected using midimew network to construct the higher level networks. In this paper, we present the architecture of a MMN and evaluate the time-cost effective factor of MMN, TESH, mesh, and torus networks. It is found that the proposed MMN yields slightly high time-cost effectiveness factor with small diameter and average distance as compared to other networks. Overall, performance with respect to time-cost effectiveness factor with small diameter and average distance suggests that the proposed MMN will be a indispensable choice for the next generation massively parallel computer systems.

This paper presents a Multilayer Perception Neural Network developed to identify human subjects using electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. We use the amplitude values of Q, R and S as a features for our experiments. In this study, a total of 87 dataset were collected among 14 subjects from the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) database. Out of the 14 subjects, Q-R-S feature points were taken from different day and time sessions to perform classification with MLP. Out of this data, 66 % is used as training dataset while the remaining 34 % is used for testing. Our method yields 96 % accuracy and demonstrates that the use of three fiducial points is sufficient to identify a subject despite the common practice of taking more feature points.

The issue of default payments from borrowers of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) is worrisome. Many borrowers fail to pay their loans and claims that the PTPTN has poor management and filing system. This study proposed a prototype for managing study loan repayment utilizing blockchain and smart contracts. Borrowers have full access toward their accounts and ledgers while corporation filing and management system get automatically up-to-date with the assistance of smart contracts.

Previous study of vertical midimew-connected mesh network (VMMN) has been conducted to evaluate some of static network performance parameters of this network. These parameters include diameter, network degree, average distance, wiring complexity, cost, and arc connectivity. VMMN showed good results compared to some of conventional and hierarchical interconnection networks. However, there are some important static parameters that were not included in that study such as packing density, message traffic density, cost effectiveness factor, and time-cost effectiveness factor. In this paper, we will focus on evaluating VMMN to these parameters, and then we will compare the results to that from mesh, torus, TESH, and MMN networks.
