Three new ordering schemes for oxygen vacancies in CaMnO3–x superlattices based on square-pyramidal co-ordination of Mn3+

Armin Reller; David A. Jefferson; John Meurig Thomas; Robert Allen Beyerlein; Kenneth R. Poeppelmeier

Electron diffraction and high resolution electron microscopy have brought to light three new ordered structures in a material of composition CaMnO(2.50 ± 0.02); in all these structures as well as in another analogous oxide, CaMnO2.75, the original features of the perovskite structure are preserved, thus offering an explanation for the facile loss and uptake of oxygen properties that these selective oxidation catalysts possess.

The structure of zeolite CSZ-1 interpreted as a rhombohedrally distorted variant of the faujasite framework

M.M.J. Treacy; John M. Newsam; Robert Allen Beyerlein; M. E. Leonowicz; David E. W. Vaughan

In contrast to earlier suggestions that the structure of CSZ-1 corresponds to the theoretical hexagonal structure 6 of Breck, evidence from a combination of techniques demonstrates that it is instead topologically similar to the faujasite framework, differing in having rhombohedral, rather than cubic, symmetry.

The connection between B-cation site disorder and oxygen non-stoicheiometry in the perovskite Ba2Bi2–xLaxO6–y

Robert Allen Beyerlein; Allan J. Jacobson; Kenneth R. Poeppelmeier

The extent of B-cation disorder in the perovskite Ba2Bi2–xLaxO6–y is strongly connected to the oxygen non-stoicheiometry and consequently depends on the redox history of the sample.
