Ricerche sulla Vegetazione Dell'Etruria

Roberto Corti

Summary The area of S. Rossore is part of an old marshy plane, placed on the right side of the mouth of the river Arno and reaching the mouth of the Serchio, which untill some centuries ago flowed indipendently into the Tirrenian and only later has been diversed into the Arno. On the dunes and downs of S. Rossore a very interesting type of Flora survives; its present physionomy going up to the Quaternary period, could be preserved till today as S. Rossore has been since a long time a private farm and a park of princes, dukes and kings. The most interesting Flora of S. Rossore is that of the downs, expecially of the oldest ones (pleistocenic) which separated untill historic times, the open sea from the lagoon of Fasana, which penetrated just inside the present walls of Pisa. For this reason these downs have been studied with a particular care. The floristic research have been based not only in the study of the specimens collected by the author, but also on the material of which the author could dispose. Th...

Sul Dioicismo Di Idesia Polycarpa Maxim

Roberto Corti

Summary On the dioecism in idesia polycarpa maxim. Idesia polycarpa Maxim. is a dioecious species, native of Japan and China. Two specimens have been studied for this research, a ♀ and a ♂ one, growing in the Botanical garden of Siena. The female plant does not present anomalies in the sex behaviour; the male plant, on the contrary, bears occasionaly some flowers with ovaries, which exceptionally develop into fruits. In the Botanical Garden of Pisa a case of complete sex inversion has been observed (male into female). In both the ♀ and the ♂ the first development stage is identical and hermaphrodyte. The flower is tendentially proterandrous, unisexuality being attained only successively. In the male flowers the pystil degenerates while the pollen mother cells undergo meiosis. The ovary ceases developing farther, at the ovule forming stage from the placentae. The only cellular line which degenerates is the epithelium, which lines the ovary inner surface and extends as far the upper surface of the stygma. T...

Sporobolus Poibetii (R. et S.) Hitch. e Oenothera Sinuata L. Nella Selva di San Rossore

Roberto Corti

Summary The author describes a Sporobolus Poiretii (R. et S.) Hitchc. and Oenothera sinuata L. stand in the «Selva» (forest) of S. Rossore (near Pisa). Earlier reports of these two adventive and perhaps naturalized species are mentioned. The author discussues the critical and complex sistematic definition, nomenclature and sinonimy of Sporobolus Poiretii in connection with the nearly related species Sporobolus indicus R. Br. The author prospects at the end how both Sp. Poiretii and Oe. sinuata can be inserted in the «Nuova Flora Analitica» of Italy, by Adriano Fiori.

Erborlzzazioni in Una Lecceta Sulla Scarpata Orientale Delle Murge Tra Fasano E Locorotondo

Roberto Corti

Abstract The author describes a portion of Quercus Ilex wood, placed between Fasano and Locorotondo (Bari), at the cross-road to Selva di Fasano, 300 m. about on the sea level. This woodland, partly destroied, situated at the limits with Q. Troiana woodland, is one of the many remains which are present in the marginal zone of Murge. These remains testify that the Q. Ilex wood was probably in the past, more widly extended, in comparison with Q. Troiana wood, preeminently present today in the low Murgia. Its flora is mostly characteristic of the «Q. Ilex Gurtel» of the Medit. series (after Schmidt) but in the meantime it shows infiltrations of species belonging to the «Q. pubescens Gurtel» and to the «Quercus-Tilia-Acer Gurtel» of the Eurosib. Boreoam. series. This floristic arrangement is in accordance with the climatic-phytogeographic characters of this zone, which is to be referred to the «middle sub-zone of Lauretum» (Pavari) and to the contact zone between the semi-arid and the sub-humid levels (Emberg...
