Smart devices are collecting and sending information from all over the world in near real-time, influencing the decisions of the citizens on various levels and subjects. Under these circumstances, people are now known as smart citizens and a new paradigm is evolving: citizen as sensor. Although many studies have been exploring Big Data, very little research has been done on the aggregation of heterogeneous data sources that consider, not only the environment, but also the citizen as the most important parameter in the system. The purpose of this paper is to describe the main components required to implement the concept of the citizen as a sensor and to develop a framework that aggregates different data sources. The framework proposed highlights the importance of data and investigates several techniques to extract intelligible information from fused data in order to provide useful information and customized applications and services.

Wearable devices are becoming very popular. They are present in sports, general activities, everyday life, etc. generating gradually new data. However, few applications are benefited by this new flood of data. This paper suggests an application based on data generated by wearable devices, which could result in significant improvement to better understand the individual and his life conditions. In this context, if a system can understand what type of data is being sensed and merges them with different data sources, it can provide a wide perspective and bring benefits to the population. For this reason, this study highlights the importance of fused data and suggests an application that will use data coming from wearable devices combined with different data sources in order to extract relevant information. By investigating this topic, meaningful applications could arise helping users achieve better planning, forecasting and decision making.

O Brasil e um dos maiores exportadores de soja do mundo. A questao da logistica de transporte dessa commodity, desde os locais de producao ate os portos por onde e exportada, e considerada um entrave para o aumento da competitividade da soja brasileira no cenario mundial. Este estudo visou analisar a proposta do corredor bioceânico, considerando o escoamento de produtos agricolas das regioes Centro-Oeste e Sul do Brasil pelos portos chilenos de Antofagasta e Iquique, correlacionando o custo do frete total e o transit time total versus o cenario atual de escoamento de graos pelos portos brasileiros do sul e sudeste. Os resultados indicam que o cenario atual de producao e exportacao da soja em graos brasileira tem uma maior viabilidade em relacao ao cenario estudado – de escoamento da producao utilizando o corredor bioceânico. Entretanto, estima-se que melhorias no sistema de transporte e investimentos em infraestrutura poderiam viabilizar a utilizacao desse corredor alternativo na exportacao de produtos pereciveis e de alto valor agregado.
