Optimization of components in the primary drive

Klaus Hahn; Bolko Schuseil; Hermann Stief; Rainer Pflug; Roman Kern

Nowadays the timing belt or synchronous belt drives the camshaft in a multitude of internal combustion engines. Schaeffler KG, with its business unit INA Motorsysteme, focuses primarily on improvements of the belt pulley. The foundation of the developments is in a first step a principal modification of the geometric round shape into an out-ofround, for example oval, form-optimized belt pulley INA Dura Drive, abbreviated ID2. The principle of this development was successfully carried over to camshaft chain drives in a second step. The combinational possibilities with variable cam timers are regarded in the same way. In this paper the company presents the ongoing developments based on performed simulations and tests.

Komponentenoptimierungen im Steuertrieb

Klaus Hahn; Bolko Schuseil; Hermann Stief; Rainer Pflug; Roman Kern
