SHIFT MODULATION ELECTRONIC CONTROLS APPLIED TO POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSIONS

In the never-ending quest of increased productivity, new methods of controlling gear and directional shifts in power-shift transmission-equipped vehicles are becoming desirable. This paper describes an electronic system developed for providing optimum clutch engagement control under any given vehicle operational condition. A description of clutch hardware, valving, torque and speed transducer, together with measuring and display devices monitoring vehicle performance, and representative test data are included.
