The reactions of iminosulfur difluorides and chlorine monofluoride

Abstract The reactions of perfluoroalkyl- and perfluoroacyl-iminosulfur difluorides with chlorine monofluoride result in the preparation of perfluoroalkyldichloroamines and a new class of compounds N,N -dichloroperfluoroamides, R f C(O)NCl 2 , via the elimination of SF 4 . The amides, FC(O)NCl 2 and CF 3 C(O)NCl 2 , in addition to 1,2-bis-(dichloroamino)tetrafluoroethane, Cl 2 NCF 2 CF 2 NCl 2 , are reported and characterized. The reactions of CIF with other sulfur(IV) imines proceed in an analogous manner to form perfluoroalkyl-dichloroamines via the elimination of the corresponding sulfur(IV) fluoride.

Iminosulphur difluorides. A new route to NN-dichloro-compounds

Perfluoroacyl- and perfluoroalkyl-iminosulphur difluorides react with chlorine monofluoride by the elimination of sulphur tetrafluoride to form the corresponding NN-dichloroperfluoro-amides and -amines in high yield.

Fluoride ion catalyses the dimerisation of trifluoroacetyl fluoride to perfluoroethyl trifluoroacetate and reactions between perfluoroacyl fluorides and perfluoroacetone to give perfluoroisopropyl esters.
