Iodine-127 Mössbauer spectra of [I2][Sb2F11] and some polyhalide anions

The 127I Mossbauer spectra of [I2][Sb2F11] and some polyhalide anions have been recorded and the Mossbauer parameters discussed in terms of their structures. A reasonable correlation is found between the quadrupole coupling constant and ligand electronegativity. The lack of consistency in reporting isomer-shift data for 127I or 129I is remarked upon and a plea to adopt either Na3[H2IO6] or Cul as a reference standard is made.

Iodine-127 Mössbauer study of iodine(III) interhalogen cations and related compounds

The 127I Mossbauer spectra of a number of iodine(III) cations and related molecules having four ligands and two non-bonding electron pairs about the central iodine have been recorded at 4.2 K. The Mossbauer parameters are dominated by the primary bonds to the iodine which are largely of p character.

A reference standard for iodine‐127 Mössbauer spectroscopy

We have examined the iodine‐127 Mossbauer spectra of a number of potential single line absorbers with a view to establishing one of these as a reference material. It is concluded that KI is the most acceptable material for this purpose.
