The problem of unpaid bank debts is becoming increasingly important in developed countries. Many empirical works are being published in an attempt to find a model capable of determining as accurately as possible whether an individual requesting a loan will be able to pay it back. This paper analyses the predicting capability of one non-parametric and two parametric models. As regards the former, the often-overlooked problem of overlearning is also tackled using the cross-validation technique. Furthermore, a three-level grading of loan applications is proposed depending on their likely performance: grant, refuse, or doubtful hence subject to manual consideration by bank staff.

Domestic tourism in the different Spanish Regions constitutes an increasingly relevant source of wealth, hence, the importance of empirical studies that facilitate the adoption of specific policies for each territory. Through the use of gravity models, the objective of the study is to determine the behavior patterns of this sector in order to facilitate the public and private decisions made to promote its development. The analysis has been performed by differentiating between each type of accommodation due the specific nature of the tourists who are users of these accommodations. Furthermore, the Spanish regions are grouped into four areas according to their geographical similarity. The results reveal that it is not possible to adopt general measures for the entire Spanish territory. Price competitiveness and other socioeconomic variables affect the areas analyzed very differently.

The aim of this study is to analyse the efficiency of livestock operations in the Valencian Community, particularly for pig, which currently provides the greatest economic weight to the agricultural GDP of the community. By creating a production function representative of the existing allocations on farms, the farms that reach an optimal level of production in the absence of inefficiencies will be determined. The results will help determine standards that facilitate error correction to improve the competitiveness of the sector. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.4995/ICBM.2015.1310

This paper aims to measure how the injection of money into the Spanish economy as a result of tourist spending contributes more or less to public income, job creation and new business opportunities depending on the air transport tourists choose. Input/Output (I/O) analysis is used to identify the Direct, Indirect and Induced Effect in both aggregate terms and also sector by sector.
